I miss that single forum game freeformschooler made.

The one with references to a demon stuck in a box of infinite boxes of another forum game.

I liked "They told me I could be anything..."

At least that's what I think the name of it was.

Oh man, no planning, no note taking, unintentional retconning everywhere most likely.
They told me I could be anything was a mess, but I always enjoyed seeding little snippets of symbolism in and watching people try to pre-empt whatever direction I planned to go in next.
The fact a few people still remember the stuff I came up with makes me happy, so thank you for this!
I should resume one of the things I started, or start a new one some time as I've had the itch to write again.

But, back on topic!
TME's Rainbow Snail's been mentioned, but I can agree with that one (even though I don't recall ever participating.) being worthy of praise.
A few of KarneWarrior's ... At least I think that was the handle he goes by on the forums, games, were fun while they lasted.

Other than that, I've regrettably little experience with the other forum games out there.

The entire forum is a game.

So... that one.

For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

Oh, and the telephone games. A few of those were out-loud-laughing-worthy.

On Bay12, there was a couple of amazing ones that just stopped being updated. One was that you were a nanite, and in the other you were a freelancer alchemist.

Are you referencing You Are Alchemist, my Forum Game? In which there was bolding, and horse poo?

I am sorry for abandoning it. There was too much horse poo to handle.

EDIT: The Rainbow Snail was awesome, though. World Balloon, wot?
Yes, that one. Maybe I could continue it if you PM me your notes and such. Wink wink.

Yeah, I can't think of any off of the top of my head that I actually played in that were top of the list, but Roll to Roll to Dodge was one of my favorite reads ever, along with Rysith's Semi-Bastard Mod Mafia

@Mongol Well, I was mostly making it up as I went along, so if you were to just take the info from the most recent status spoiler, It would probably work. You have my blessing.

It was pretty damn awesome, how could I forget? I'd probably resume reading if you resumed posting. It was my second favorite game of all the times, after "You are Necromancer".

Battle of the Gods II (BoTGII) was always one of my favorites, though I have no idea how we went on for so long without it falling apart.  I think it definitely worked better as disjointed story lines and got more confusing as people interacted, but the feel for the game was great.

Multiworld Madness was by far the best RTD I've ever been in or read, mostly because Sean is a master storyteller.

Finally, though I don't really do mafia anymore, I remember the early Paranormal series as being amazing.

Of course, memory tends to pick out the good parts and ignore the worse details, but that's the whole point of nostalgia...

My favorite game that I've ever participated in was Keeping Up With Bay 12, one of the only freeform games I've tried that didn't immediately go to hell. Involved horrorterrors, basements, sub-basements, final fantasy, extensive apartment remodeling, and spontaneous epic quests.

Let's All Be Superheroes, another Freeform game based on getting a random power from the Superpower Wiki and roleplaying it, was pretty good but things got out of hand with too many confusing backstories flying around. We did get some pretty sweet heroes (and anti-heroes/villians) out there too. The game practically developed it's own mythology; sadly that's also what killed it when we got too involved with it.

I <3 freeform games
