He's talking about purely in-combat visual representation. Say you build a destroyer, which is shown in the battle cinematics as around five identical ships. I like this idea, makes it feel more epic.

Then a 20 on 20 battle would require showing 120 ships.  Which is impressive, but eh, I'm ok with seeing only 40.

I get enough lag with a max fleet made out of all corvettes, that would need to be an option. Its hardly unhappy amounts of lag, but its more than I've gotten anwhere else ingame.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

Could be an option to adjust/turn off, like in the Total War series. I know they aren't the same kind of game, but it could be awesome and everyone would be happy.

Whats the point of having a 'technologically advance' race, if their technology make them on par with everyone else?

You mean the Sophons? They do get a +40% research bonus. If played completely the same otherwise, Sophons will always be ahead in technology.

Honestly, I'd prefer it if the unit sizes were in the thousands, not just double digits.

It makes completely no sense for a tiny handful of ships to be able to blockade an entire planet, much less an entire goddamn star system. Nor would any sort of galactic empire have the pathetic levels of resources to only be able to output and manage a tiny squadron of ships. After all, some of the tech in game literally states that they're now basically conjuring things into existence out of almost nothing.

But I'm well aware of technological limitations so I'd be satisfied with at least a few dozen instead of 5 cruisers per fleet...

I'm fairly sure the reason for the low numbers is that the combat engine can't support a lot of ships.

What really irritates me is when a single scout ship blockades a system (my only Titanium-70 producing system) that has a massive war fleet protecting it.

Why is that irritating? Just blow it up... if the fleet protecting the system doesn't engage the pirate, they're a bit useless.

The scout ship entered the system AFTER I ended my turn. No production happens on ships that require Ti-70, the ship flies away the first thing next turn. Setting the fleet to guard mode doesn't help, because the Hissho scout came AFTER the United Empire scout, which did the exact same thing.

In that case we should have a 'stance' setting for fleets, like interception or patrol, which would attack hostile ships.

Really though, one/two turns of loss on a few ships isn't a big deal and its not like they could do it repeatedly

Actually, there is no reason why they can't do it repeatedly.

That annoyance has been posted on the forums and the devs are aware of it.
FYI: A colony ship can blockade you too.

In any case, set your army to guard mode on the next planet out.  If it's not yours make it yours.

Also, building a wonder and winning is cheap and easy if you have boat loads of science.  It's the last tech on the Exploration tree.  Once you have that, set five planets to developing the "infinite cost tech portal."  Win next turn.

Getting a science victory requires researching a neighboring tech and three others down the other trees.

Lots and lots of balancing is required, remember it is only an alpha :P

Also, a very very kind friend of mine gifted me a copy on Steam yesterday. I've only played about 5 minutes but SWEET ODIN'S BEARD DAT INTERFACE.
