Hey! You! Yeah, you. How old are you, anyways? Can never tell with these huge, stinking bookah. You look big enough to remember that those green things appeared only 23 years ago. I do one act of charity, and what do I end up with? A worthless assistant who can't remember anything and goes off spouting wrong information to every other clueless wanderer. How on earth am I supposed to study the Eternal Alchemy with all these distractions around me? Graaah!

Wow. Thanks for this hell of a competition. Now begins my attempt at a competent backstory.

As soon as Chark was born, his mother could tell he would be great. His strength was unparalleled at the age of 5. When entering into the Charr School of Battle he won almost every fight. When he had grown up, around the age of 18, she spoke to him, telling him of the reward of battle and what noble cause his father had died for. This had the desired effect; Chark had immediately signed up to fight in the Iron Legion. When he left home, still a child in his mother's eyes, she shed a tear. This was likely the last time she would see her own son.
He travelled from the small town where he was born to the Black Citadel. Travelling right to the heart of this technological marvel he finds Smodur the Unflinching, kneels in front of h and speaks:
"I am ready commander, to fight and to die."
And so Chark's story began.

I'll be playing probably.

Not sure wich profession, for race I suppose I'll either go for human or sylvari since I don't much like charr norn and asura. Might go mesmer if I like it, seems like they really gave him a more active rol with all the mind games then in gw1 where they were mostly throwing conditions around.

As for backstory, no idea whatsoever. I prefer to make things up as I go, the game seems to give a number of options to personalize your story at creation after all, seems silly to make something up before you make that choice.

One thing is certain though, if I'm human I'll probably roleplay an intense hatred for the charr. Just can't see them as anything but villains after what happened to ascalon

ACTUALLY, the Charr hate the humans with a passion, the Humans hate the Charr due to the hatered from the Charr. The Humans only have one Stronghold left in the world, the Charr's starting story is when they banish the Mad King once again (something they seem to do regularly) who is actually like a Lich or something and who's army is an Undead phantasmal force of those that were caught in the self sacrificing act the King did which destroyed the city and area around the castle which originally was Charr land... Last I checked...

So its really a question of "Only the Victors write the Histories." The Charr claim their land was taken by Humans long ago, they forced the Humans out of their lands which the Humans then cursed due to a foolish kings undieing desire to rule forever and now plagues the area forcing the Charr into a endless cycle of combat to continue their hold on their lands...
