Platinum Greaves? Derailed into Government Conspiracies
« on: April 11, 2012, 11:07:20 am »

I got a pair of platinum greaves studded with clear diamonds (which shows dwarves talking to dwarves) and menacing with GCS silk. Is this useful for combat?

As far as I know these will only be useful for very very heavy bling.

Besides candy, what is the best material for artifact weapons and armor?  I know blunt weapons benefit from high density metals, but for edged weapons and armor it looks like steel reigns supreme.  Has anybody done science on non-standard materials?

Pretty much steel everywhere.  Non-weapon materials have generally poor stats.  Most have identical stats, just copied from each others as placeholders because they're not naturally used in warfare so those stats don't matter.

The important question here is which dwarf gets to be Mister Fancypants?

The hammerer of course those greaves must weight a ton so it'll make "criminals" harder to catch.

This is a masterful image of your FPS and the HFS. The HFS is committing a depraved act on your FPS.

That made for a beautiful mental image.

Aurora on small monitors:
1. Game Parameters -> Reduced Height Windows.
2. Lock taskbar to the right side of your desktop.
3. Run Resize Enable

I like to imagine that they don't bend, and the hammerer is stumbling around with stiff legged, amazing pants.

So let me get this straight.

What you're suggesting is that a certain Urist McHammer gets the shiny pants?

I see no problems with this, continue.

Exactly what I was thinking. I'd include sunglasses, though :P

The palace guard is an excellent place to assign all your stupid artifact clothing and armor.  You can get some excellent storytelling from these; in my last fortress before 2012, I had a female captain of the guard wearing an artifact silk dress and wielding an artifact cane wooden blowgun. She had one other guardsdwarf in the squad, nicknamed "gimp", who was wearing nothing but an artifact leather loincloth and a leather hood.

Lets just say beatings were probably being issued without any crimes being committed.

A masterpiece? Either way, you stick the original up for auction and I'm sure one of your numerous worshippers from the forums will pay an inordinate amount of money for it.
