I remember the Mobile Fortress Thread. I think that was one of the many straws that broke the camel's back and instigated the change.

I remember when VN tried to invade Other Games. That was ridiculous.
They didn't invade other games, they invaded all the lower subforums.

You mean some can still see it?
No, but I did have the opportunity to sign up to still see it. I think that opening is pretty closed forever now.

I remember running that terrible alternate forum for a while. Eventually even that got out of hand. I don't think Armok will ever forgive me for deleting it.

They are a secret, fell and terrible. We would do well to ensure they don't fall into the wrong hands.

WW1 medic is actually quite good.

Ahhh. Okay. Yeah. Most of the sub games suck.

And that my friend, is precisely the point.

There are some gems in the curses arcade, however.

Various Nonsense. I came upon it in its final twilight, mere months before the end times. I still have access to it, but fortunately nothing of value was lost.

(Except for maybe the declaration of independence, which was kind of funny, and Dash Gunmetal, which was hysterical.)
Wait. You can SEE it still? I knew I should have signed up for the archivist position when I had the chance! You must share the declaration of independence, for historical purposes!

I didn't actually sign up to get the archives but I posted in the thread so I can see it anyway.  It's like the regular forums only with no content.  WH40K seems to be the thing that was talked about incessantly, and there was this weird meme about posting broken Photobucket images.

Most of those images were probably Sniper Joe/Sofia/Janet posting gore/frogs. Goddamn. That's basically all I remember of VN. Warhammer40k and gore/frogs.
Also I guess penguin avatars, and the declaration of independence, but whatever.

Is it possible to render the archives in sepia tone? Only fitting for olden days, a more innocent time...

I only vaguely recollect the penguins, but I'm sure I still have my old robot avatar kicking around somewhere from that fad...

And I actually remember reading that carp/elephants thread when it was new. Way to overload me with nostalgia! Oh man, the elephants... So many crushed fortresses...

Now I feel the need to re-read my own Inmates story from just before 3D was released. I can't bring myself to play the old 2D again now that I'm so spoiled by the newer versions, but nostalgia has its place...

Well, the forum has had its share of weird memes. Makes me think of that bizare 'double down, maaaaan' meme that was endemic to B12.

Memories...

In 5 years we'll all be like "Oh remember when all those guys had ponies for avatars?" "Yeah, that was ridiculous man!" ;)

I can't wait.
