Dividend payment is set by the controller of the company (whoever is the single owner of a majority of shares). You should explain your mistake to the buyer of your company, you can find who it is by going to the stock market, clicking on your stock and then on the "Shareholders" tab. Maybe he can raise the dividend to give you a hand, or find some other way to alleviate your pitfall.

I did the same mistake but the buyer and some other guys helped me get my money's worth for my remainder of shares.

I'm only on the CapOL server, but if you want I can give you a job for 1 or 2 million a day to slowly get you up again. I'm The Monopoly Guy on CapOL.

Carnwennan, you're not a moron; anyone could make that mistake.

I recommend staying away from the stock market, as it's broken and incomplete.  There's no liquidity; if you buy shares, you are likely stuck with them forever since it will be difficult to find a buyer, and the only way you'll make money off them is if the company pays dividends.

If you need a grant of $100 million, no problem, that's pretty much chump change.  Anyone else on Bay 12 having problems, that goes for you, too.  However, it can be fun trying to build something from nothing without any help.

It takes a lot of micromanagement if you do it normally, and at the beginning you'll feel that you aren't making much profit.

@Wardo: Thanks for the offer, but I am on the test server (I didn't know the difference when I started up) soo... Thanks for the information regarding dividends as well. Maybe I can ask for 10% or something like that.

@Zazmio: A grant would certainly be nice, yeah. I applied for one of the public ones but I think they refused it based on my $30M stake in my old company. I'll try building it up on my own for now, maybe I will enjoy it.

I had considered reviving it to give an update on my company. Now I don't have to! Yaaay~.

The guy who bought up the majority of my old company sold his controlling shares to some other guy. He is at least keeping it running and not hemorrhaging money. I have a little closer to the controlling share. Maybe I'll try to... convince the others to let go of their shares... I'll need more money though.

My new company has found it's feet and is selling blueberries and milk for the low low price of $2 each. Losing a little money because I expanded too fast, but the welfare payments are keeping it afloat for now.

That Nigerian Prince guy is hilarious.

I'm still playing.

Lately, there's been someone named vance on the CapOl server who somehow got quadrillions of dollars through an exploit and has been buying all the water and electricity, no matter what price, even at the max of $7 a unit.  So people have been selling to him @ $7 and making easy billions, and probably even trillions, off him.  This pretty much makes networth a completely meaningless stat.

Is that what's going on? I noticed someone has been buying up all the utilities... I also made a new company, Utilitarianism Utilities. I'd be happy to provide utilities at reasonable prices (<0.09) to you guys.

Just started in this, and the server I'm on (not sure which) has INSANE demand for ground beef, its at .08 demand met and literally NO sellers on the B2B.

I'm breeding me up some cash cows! YEEHAW!

Funny, that's actually what got me banned. Admittedly I was selling water at about 5k per unit.

Yeah, I msg'd one of the guys who is using the exploit. It's not terribly novel and is just taking advantage of the fact that there isn't much attention paid by the admin and there are too many rules that are only enforced manually.

Basically, he just made two accounts. Have one take max loan and transfer all the money to another account using B2B transfers. Then restart and have the other account take max loan and reverse the transaction. Basically just doubling your money every time as it bounces back and forth between the companies.

Both of which are bannable offenses (no multi-accounts allowed on CO server and no "giving money away via overpriced B2B transfers" allowed on either server).

Was that how he did it?  There are several different ways to get easy quadrillions, from what I've read on the game forum.

Anyway, it appears that he got bored and left, which is what tends to happen to exploiters.
