They didn't do anything that a lot of folks haven't been doing for days. They just did it a lot more.

There has been a bug in the stock market forever. I've known about it over a week, as have others.

Basically this is it: Do an IPO. Buy up all your shares. Issue more shares. Buy up all your shares. Issue more shares. Buy up all your shares. Repeat as necessary, funneling money out of the company to buy more shares if needed. They got their company's market cap up to over 600G then did another huge issue, creating nearly 1.2T of money. Then they bought out the entire b2b.

A bunch of people have been abusing this for a while. How do you think Prophet got so high priced?
Wait, how does that equate to mroe money in the end?
Magic.

Well apperntly the Admin has said his is going to liquidate all of the comapnies as soon as the game is out of beta, which is a good thing since some people exploited glitches in the system,  but its gunna be a pain the ass rebuilding my companies. I never even got to become a proper empire  :'(.

Wait, how does that equate to mroe money in the end?

An example:

I do an IPO with a company with a net worth of 300 million. I issue 200 million shares. The price starts at $1. I buy up the $200 million shares at an average of $3, raising the price to $5. The company now $500 million in assets, but it has a market cap of 2.5 billion. I then issue 500 million more shares, giving the company 2.5 billion in cash. I then spend my personal money buying the 500 million shares, spiking the price way up to say $20 - but I only have to pay the average, say around $12 (so I spend 6b). Now the company's market cap is 20 billion, and it has 3 billion in cash. I then issue more shares, giving it another 20 billion in cash. Repeat as desired.

And if you need some more money, you just buy all the shares in a company and issue the max. Then dump the company. Your shares will all sell at far higher than you paid for the company, since when you bought it you were buying the entire company - but when you sold it you only sold half of it (the other half being held by robo investors) so it doesn't drop as much per share as it went up when you bought it.

Lemon Co. (LEMONS) just raised the dividend to 2$ per share and the current price for one share is 1.74$. Grab them while they last :D
edit: now it was raised to 3$ o_O
edit2: what exactly happens if a company cannot pay the dividends?

That's one of the companies they pumped and dumped to raise money for GOON I believe. It's sitting on 10g cash, heh.

Seems that goons did that to corner Ratan - before going out in a laugh.

I got jailed for a few minutes because I was the chairman of AQUA when RJ came back and saw all the stuff. AQUA has 500b in cash from where they pumped it up and dumped it, so I guess I was jailed as a co-conspirator until he noticed I wasn't the chairman when it was done  ;D

Not sure what to do with AQUA. It has a ton of funny money. I sold all its water on the b2b to help things out right after the market was emptied, but otherwise it just has a ton of cash.

Now sits at like 3.74, I bought up as many shares as possible without gaining a controling share.

on the news side the Admin said it will be like 2 weeks until the store overhaul is finsihed and the stock market is done. Then he will move the game to capitalism-online.com, and it will be out of beta, and playable.

Paul, Issue a dividend, at least that is somehting to do with the cash unil he takes it all away.

Given that Scott has told us what the future holds (capitalism-online with a wipe) and an approximate timeline (2 weeks), perhaps this would be a good time for us to organize. Those of us who want to play on capitalism-online could go ahead and start figuring out where we're going to focus in the new world so that we don't step on each other's early-adopter profit margins.

I'm gunna start with beverages again. Just like good old Romney Inc. Also I call naming my companies after 2012 republican presidential candidates. Anyone can use the candidates from any other year, so long as they did not also run in 2012. For the record, I draw the line after the Iowa straw poll, so you can take Tim Pawlenty if you want but he sucks so be my guest.
