I think i'll do production only, but this time i may start with water and electricity, plus some mining, and branch off in the textile industry, and once i get enough money from that i'll start producing food again. My goal is to have massive production but keep my research as diverse as possible to be able to produce decent quality of whatever the b2b market needs.

Agree, plus that's about the LAST thing *I* want to see from this kind of game - author spending valuable development time on useless graphics.

I'll go production only too.

Hey, instead of everyone individually conquering an entire chain, I find that it's easier (and less grind) to focus on one thing and get really high research for that one thing instead of trying to master an entire category. Like, it's easier for one company to do Q50 iron, another to do Q40 steel, and so on instead of trying to mine every kind of metal early in the game.

So, how about some of us take around 2-4 initial products to really specialize on? And we can work together on some dwarfy product like furniture or jewelry or clothing.

Actually pretty much everything is dwarfy. But we should work on something that's really hard to manufacture or get capital for initially.

I found food extremely profitable. The food chain is really long, and there's so much variety that most people usually release Q9 or so products, while I had Q30 stuff due to specialization.

Maybe we should try and do a burger/hot dog chain.

I'll probably try and specialize in White and Malt Vinegar. Would need a high Q Barley supplier, and someone who wants to produce mayo, mustard, ketchup, and some more hot food producers further down the chain. We don't even have to give discounts - we just have to make sure that we're not stepping on each other's toes and hint where there might be quality supplies and higher demand.

Nah, being independent pay off when shit meets fan.

Auto Union is only minimally affected by the recent shortages. (namely the petrolchemical plant is to small to feed plastic to both leather and seats and rubber)

Point is, with the current pricing and retail structure, it does not make sense to specialize in any one food, since suppliers are only selling at ridiculous prices.

The problem with specialization is that it lacks flexibility. I've noticed that in the food business, some wares are over-produced while some others fail to keep up with demand. What i've been doing lately is produce those things in high demand to keep my margins high, but the problem is that it's a dynamic system so last week's market may not be the same as today's.

And it's bound to stay this way, because if there is a market that has high margins and high demand, people will try to profit from it until it's saturated.

Hence flexibility > specialization.

So I heard back from the dev and he said my company's graphs looked "too suspicious". That combined with the fact that I got left as the chairman of RAPTURE (with a total of 3% of the stock) when Walter and DropsySufferer dumped it was enough to trigger a short jail sentence for me. I get out tonight though. I doubt I'll get the money back that I had in each of my companies but I'm sure they will recover once the stores are back online later this week. I'm not exactly sure why companies that I've started legitimately with money from my sporting goods company and have been building for a week and therefore had store sales finally for a few days (with the accompanying increase in net worth) look suspicious but hey, what can you do.

What do you mean? He intentionally, knowingly exploited the situation. His posts here are a clear indication he knew what he was doing, knew that it was wrong, and that he intended to ride the roller coaster to the end with no regard for the results of his actions....

What? All I did was identified the prices people were willing to buy at and adjusted my prices accordingly :P

It's not my fault that the people paying those prices were able to do so via money gained from a bug the admin's known about almost since the second it was discovered by the players.
