I certainly could use the money if we're doing that with the stocks. Just ran out, waiting for my stuff to be finished now.

If you require proof of that, just check the coal prices.

How did you make so much coal? Takes 79 hours just to make 10k  :o

The thing with stocks is the big boys can far outspend us there.  I may buy 300k shares at $1 each while someone else comes in and buys 30 million shares.

Let's look at that stock I mentioned:

Quote from: TRWM
Vorret   59.5 M   80.00%
Rip   5.00 M   6.72%
Wuntvor   1.97 M   2.66%
Matrix   1.62 M   2.18%
Kudaros   1.23 M   1.67%

That's the top five shareholders- my 18k shares aren't even on the list.

However, my investment is still worth 70k more than I paid for it.  As long as the stock goes up, you make money.

Expanding the Coal Mine.  It starts at 10.
When you expand it to size 20, 10k coal would take 39.5 hours.
Size 40, 10k coal would take 19.75 hours.

As I found out while getting silica sand, make your mine bigger. Upgrading mine mine from 10m2 to 100m2 made the process of getting 20000 silica sand shrink from ~40 hours to 4.

That's how it works with all factories.  The bigger they are, the faster they produce.

I know retail stores generate free publicity based on their size, but does it influence sales?

I would expect it to also exponentially increase sales.

I havn't bothered to expand yet, since I'm barely keeping up supplies for some of the other stuff already.  Either way, I can expand by adding even more products, instead of selling some stuff faster.  (Not sure if good idea, but rolling with it.)

Making 2k per tic right now it seems...

I wonder if this game also simulates the diseconomies of scale when you get too big. At some point, the cost of expanding should end up becoming higher than the cost savings from the additional expansion.

I bought everything on the market that was less than $10/unit. Then I posted it again. I am an ass.

I think it does, because you have to double the size to double the effect, which means the cost is doubling too.

Also, time to invest in making my stores bigger, then.  If my cash pre/post tick looks like this with 40m^2 stores:

46,607.85

119,591.45

... then I need bigger stores.

The bigger the factroy/store/R&D, the higher the maintenance and salary cost.  This has a exponential increase (^1.2 I think it was) so at some point large factories will cost more than they save.

Dang.  Gaston INC's owner finally figured out that a 96 cent a share dividend would bankrupt him quick, fast, and in a hurry.  The 525k shares I had in that would have profited nicely.

EDIT:  And the price doubles after I sell off.  *headdesk*

I looked it up, it seems like the company elected a new chairholder and he appointed himself CEO and reduced the dividends.

That's something that should probably be told to investors.

So is the stock market based entirely on IPO speculation? or is it actually possible to hold long-term portfolios as a source of income?
