Oh great, more fun stuff to worry about. Well, we'll probably find out soon enough what a Zone Storm entails exactly. Oh, and make sure you remain on stanby in case we need an emergency extraction, okay?.
Quote from: Anton Chernozorov, text message to Miyamoto de Bergerac
Sure thing. Better ask someone who actually has experience with shuttles though.

Grab three mapping drones for the Red team and one nutripack for possible future use, then grab my gear and wait in the garage.

Ask ALVIN if he can link our suit cameras to the CCR screens. If neither he nor anybody else does so, go there and do it myself. If everything goes fine, go to the garage with the rest of blue squad.

"Hey, I'm going to try and link our cameras to those screens. We've got super high tech AIs, how hard could it be to link a few camera feeds?"

((Probability says that I'll probably roll low if it comes down to a roll, but eh, it's only probability. We must finish up here so that we can get going.))

Lars nodded.  "Thank you, brother Morul.  Brother Auron, could you also get three mapping drones, please?"

Wait for team.
You stand around in the garage, leaning against the wall and waiting for the team to get ready.

"Come on guys, it's time to go have wacky adventures!"

((Ummm... Why would we want to put landlines on? We're not going to reach Steve anyway, and I don't see their usefulness anywhere. Why would we want landlines?

And Parisbre, do you mind if I nitpick/investigate your character backstory? Because I like nitpicking, but I don't want to make you suffer through it unless you want to.

And I am wondering how the previous team knows about Zone Storm. If they've killed themselves almost immediately, where did they find that knowledge?))

Huh, I'll take this on my trip:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Take the stuff in the inventory spoiler to prepare to go out. Await orders from Bishop and follow them.

((We don't have to take off our suits to eat, right?))
You gather your junk and get ready to roll out.

(No, you can eat in the suit. There's a little port thing to let you introduce things from the outside to the inside of the suit.)

"Rubber gloves... I will assume that they were lying around, hopefully"

Find out about expedition plans and prepare by packing three and a half days of rations in a bag, then go outside and grab a bunch of pebbles then colour them bright neon or something highly contrasting to the terrain and use the stuff in the lab to make a slingshot. Then when the team leaves follow mission parameters.
You gather together your food and water, paint some rocks and make a slingshot out of rubber tubing and a piece of metal. And then you head to the garage and wait on the rest of the team.

Lars shook his head.  Ugh.  He then went to get supplies and gathered his teammates.

"Brothers of Steve!  We are prepared this day to embark on our first expedition of our divine mission!  I expect all to go well and everyone to be safe.  Morul, you and I will be in front.   Your god-given sight will be invaluable in searching out the mysteries of this place.  Auron, as medic, you will be in the middle.  Jack, you shall be in the rear.  Should I be incapacitated, Jack will take command unless overridden by home base.  Get your gear ready, and I will speak an invocation before we depart."

Last, he sent a message to Flint.

Quote
Flint, Quartermaster of Canary Base,

I humbly request a gauss rifle magazine to take on the expedition.  I do hope to return it unused.

Sincerely,
Brother Lars

Gather food supplies and teammates.  Get a gauss clip from armory if authorized.  Link camera feed to base monitor.

You grab 3 days of food and water, some sample containers and your data pad before running around, slapping your team mates and then running out to the garage.

"LETS GO LETS GO LETS GO"

Quote from: Bishop | Message to Blue Team
Team, meeet up in the garage after I get our route info for how we are going to explore this rock. I suggest packing at least 3 days worth of food and water, but no more than 5. Also, return any spare magazines to the armory if you have more than one. These are for everyone kiddies, so be nice and share.

Promptly heading to the map room, Bishop sends out another message.

Quote from: Bishop | Message to Miyamoto
Well, I'm getting my team together so I now need to know the specifics of how we are going to explore this rock. I need you to show me the route we are going to take, how long it should take and if we are allowed to drive anything from the garage. I'll meet you in the map room.

Pack 3 days food and water as well as a few sample containers, then head to the map room to get our route that blue team is travelling, then head to the garage to get my group together. Ponder how exactly are we going to eat and drink safely while out in the field incase of radiation.
You gather up your supplies and then head to the map room. You get a copy of the map so far, check your team's route-looks like you're going through zones 3 and 4-and download the map onto your wristpad. That done you head over to the garage and wait.

(The food and water should be fine as long as you keep them packaged. Exposing things to radiation doesn't make them radioactive unless the actual radioactive substance falls into them. So don't go scooping random alien crap into your sandwich.)

grab a long pole from the garage to use as a gravity detector then try to find my squad leader and follow him mindlessly
You grab a long metal pole and follow Lars. Not sure if he's the leader, but he's the one yelling the loudest.

"Hmm. Curious. And alarming, but mostly curious."

Quote from: Anton Chernozorov, text message to Miyamoto de Bergerac
Chernozorov here. Continuing examination of the video logs. Found a few interesting things.
Firstly, the outpost was not built by this team as was claimed. It exists within the first hours of footage, during the team's landing, so being established earlier is more likely.
The missing vehicle was a minishuttle rather than an MPV, I assume it's been lost somewhere during exploration. Exploration, but for some reason not mapping - because we found the drones untouched.
I would say the whole operation is starting to seem suspect. We arrived to almost exactly the same conditions as they did, and they seem to have either gone mad - or gave up and tried to leave - some 60 hours after arriving, if the length of the footage is any indication.
Finally, there is the important bit. There is mention on the footage of something called the "Zone Storm". It's so far uncertain what form it takes, but it seems it has something to do with increased anomalous activity in areas surrounding the base. Whether or not it can actually threaten the base remains to be seen, but perhaps some preparations should be made.
That is all for now. Will report further details as they appear.

Keep watching the leader's footage. Pay attention to communications, as always. Try to see if the crater is already there when the team lands, whether the gravimetric anomaly existed then, and whether the team was aware of it. Rewind back to the landing if necessary.

Remember to eat as well.

You continue watching, this time with less fast forwarding, sitting around for hours watching the rather banal actions of the teams. First thing you notice that the 60 hours of footage you have doesn't equate to 60 hours of them living here. There are gaps in the footage; probably when the leader took off his suit and turned it off while in base. Hard to tell how long the gaps are, there aren't time stamps on this footage.

One of those gaps begins rather abruptly, while he's in the barracks.  He's talking to someone when his camera suddenly spits static for a moment and then ends. You rewind and watch it again, this time with the sound turned up. You hear some sort of distortion and the sound of someone yelling in the background. Hmm. This is near the end of the footage too; something like 57 hours in.

You rewatch the beginning and end of the footage. The crater is there since the beginning, unchanged. However the interesting part is that, near the end of the footage, before the rest of the team leaves, he's working on something in the planning room. You can't see what; his helmet is just sort of sitting on the table with him half in shot. You hear voices in the background and boost the volume a bit. They're arguing about something. You can't make it all out but you think they're talking about leaving, about how "this area is too dangerous" and how "It could happen again at any time".

Curious.

Grab 3 scout drones, sample containers and sample gathering materials, get inside Gilgamesh and, once my team is ready, get going towards our designated zone.

You gather your supplies and get ready to go, waiting for the rest of your team to fall in line.

"Hrmm? Oh sure."

Hand the Father a clip. Then head and grab three days worth of food, and four extra meals.
You hand off your ammo and then grab a ton of food.

"I'm meals on wheels ready for some feels. Probably mostly feeling terrified, now that I think about it. But hey, whatcha gonna do."

Head to garage, ready to depart
You walk to the garage, all ready to go.

Grab three mapping drones for the Red team and one nutripack for possible future use, then grab my gear and wait in the garage.

You grab your gear and wait in the garage, idly squeezing the grayish nutrient paste back and forth in it's container.

"good thing I can't taste things any more. This would probably be terrible."

>LINKING NOW.

The Monitors in the CCR light up with the views of every team member with an activated suit.

Looks like all the teams are up and ready to go. Team captains, whoever you are, feel free to start going. Good luck to you all.

Lars kneels among everyone.

"All praise be to Steve and the HMRC Pantheon.  Steve, may your light shine on us all as we set out on this journey.  May the many hands of Algis shield us on our travels.  O Cog-azaon, guide us in understanding the wonders we find out there.  May Vo-nos quicken our steps, and Ingram guide our guns.  Pathmas the Incognizable, may we be ever in your favor.  In Steve's glorious name, amen."

Let us depart, gentlemen.

Get the mapping drones if Auron doesn't.  Head out on foot toward the center point of Hex 6.

((You wanted us to do 6 first, right?))

((Our objective is to explore those regions, so I don't think order matters. However I would suggest leaving the weird radioactive blue glow zone for the end.))

@Bishop:"Our suit cameras are now linked to the CCR. Awaiting your orders blue leader."

@Zephyris:"Hey, doc. Looks like we're in for a long walk. If you get tired, just hop on me." said Flint, as he noticed Zephyris was the only one without an exoskeleton.

Follow Bishop's orders. If we move out this turn, throw rocks with my slingshot every once in a while and look for anything unusual, both in the way they fly and the effect of their landing. If Zephyris asks, give her a ride.

EDIT: Also, be on the lookout for any signs of the previous team (tracks, equipment, garbage from eaten food). And take a couple of cans of spraypaint with me, just in case.

Grab a drone or two if i have room in my pack.

Clearly running multiple missions at the same time is a terrible idea.  The epic battle to see which team can cock it up worse has escalated again.

And Larry kinda gets blueballed in all this; just left with a raging bone spear and no where to put it.
