Zone Storm(Event):
Description: Anomalies seeping from their zone of origin into other zones, sometimes threatening the base. (info gained by precursors)
Quote: "...the difference between the zones might not be survivable..."
-Precursor Expedition Leader
Danger: Unknown, presumed to be extremely dangerous.
Radiation orb(Event):
Origin: Sector 6 anomaly, bright blue object
Trigger: Automapping drone approaching the object
Drone status: Evaporated by lightning coming from the blue object.
Description: Smaller blue object that broke off from the large blue object in the center of the anomaly. Radioactive and electrically charged. Moved towards the Precursor Crusher after creation.
Danger: !!EXTREMELY DANGEROUS!! The object will cause damage to electronics and radiation poisoning. Shutting down all equipment and taking shelter from the radiation should keep you safe.
Aftermath: Team members taking cover in the AI core got irradiated. Hull breach. Full description
here.
Addendum: Possibly a zone storm event?
Base ("Canary Base", sector 1):
Interconnected modules
Sits in what looks like broken volcanic glass
-Ambient temperature: 20-15 Kelvin
Garage is the only entrance?
-Exit faces southwest (zone 6).
No decontamination?
Surroundings are fairly safe (except for the crater and zone storms).
-Be careful, zone storms could happen at any time without warning.
Near base crater ("Precursor Crusher", east, 2 hexes distance, 2 hexes radius, sector 1):
Crushing gravity (also known as gravity seep)
Dead precursors (9 precursors and their shuttle, completely crushed and flattened)
Blindingly bright when viewed by weird-o-vision
The bright blue object of sector 6 sent a smaller copy of itself in the crater.
Eerie blueish glow (name?, sector 6, 1 bighe distance):
Possibly dangerous, proceed with extreme caution
Ground has electrical charge
-? Cause? Someone who knows about physics should investigate.
-Should take sample.
Blue glow doesn't seem to have an origin. Instead it seems like the air itself is glowing.
-? Unknown particles? Should take sample.
-Air scans reveal traces of xenon. Xenon radiates blue when highly excited. Cause of blue glow?
Radioactive, proceed with extreme caution
-Fluctuating radiation levels
--? Is this because different places have different radiation strength or does the radiation fluctuate regardless of movement? Should investigate.
-Radiation becomes noticeable at about 9 miles (4 hexes) from base.
-Radiation becomes slightly dangerous at about 11 miles (5 hexes) from base.
--Prolonged exposure (12+ hours) can cause (minor) radiation sickness.
-Interference with electronics and strange all-over tingling sensations also begin at 11 miles.
-Anton [Sean Mirrsen, via PW] recomends using full robot bodies or battlesuits to explore, since they are better armored against radiation.
-The source of the radiation seems to be something incredibly bright and glowing in the center of the zone.
--Morul [kisame12794] saw math related to radiation and electricity near the center.
--Approaching objects are bombarded wih radiation and electrical bolts.
--Electrical shielding absolutely neccssary to approach.
Anomalous motion zone (name?, zone 3, 1 bighex distance)
Possibly dangerous, proceed with extreme caution
Anomalous motion zones
-? Looks like manipulator abuse?
-Objects with higher mass seem to be subjected to different distortions.
---E.g. in the slow zone light seems to travel 5 feet in 1 second while rocks seem to fall 1 foot in half an hour.
-Some zones produce effects similar to time distortions, while others seem to just mess with speed and gravity of entering objects.
-Zone types:
--Slow zone:
---A crystal fired in the slow zone regarded it's entry as a hit and began growing. It also crumbled after a while, showing that time does indeed pass at a normal rate inside the zone (for the crystals at least).
--Fast zone:
---Also seems to increase gravity, since one object landed harder.
--Very fast zone:
---Also seems to accelerate objects, since one landed further than it should have.
--Up slow zone:
---Objects going up move slowly. Objects going down move normally.
--Down slow zone:
---Objects going down move slowly. Objects going up move normally.
-Effects become apparent a few miles after entering the zone (3-4 hexes away from the base).
-Straigth line borders, not gradient.
-Objects that accelerate while crossing the border are torn apart.
--Rocks thrown from the fast to the slow zone received no damage. Probably due to lack of acceleration. Accelerating drone got torn apart by the thruster.
There are also safe areas that exhibit no time distortion effects.
Hexagon-gameboard (name?, zone 2, 1 bighex distance)
Possibly dangerous, proceed with extreme caution
The ground is completely flat and partitioned into hexagonal chunks
-No friction
-Near-abolute zero temprature. Possibly related to the lack of friction?
-Ground very heat conductive. Possibly related to near absolute zero tempratures? Some kind of heat sink perhaps?
--Laser caused glow but no damage.
In the distance are strange objects/structures on the ground
-Look crystaline in nature. (Oh, no! The crystals from mission 1 want revenge!)
In the distance are strange lights in the sky
-Look like "...hazy chains of light, more distinct then an aurora, but still not entirely solid."
--Miyamoto [Radio Controlled]
Optical distortions zone (name?, zone 7, 1 bighex distance)
No danger exhibited yet, proceed with moderate caution.
Spires, pits and angular formations of balanced stones.
Objects seem to have multiple or even fractions of their shadow.
-There doesn't appear to be any potent light source around here.
-? How do the shadows react to light?
-? How do the shadows react to weapons?
-? Dangerous? Approach with caution.
Lukas [Prosperus] got a wierd vibe from this zone.
Mirror blindness
-Further inside the zone (~2 hexes away from center), vision in one eye replaces vision from another
-Effect implies knowledge or at least understanding of the human brain or human and synthetic eyes.
Bright blindness
-Further inside the zone (~1 hex away from center), vision is completely replaced by white.
-Effect first appears as white spots in the edge of vision.
? Something could be hidden in the zone. Exploration recommended.
-Blindness seems to get stronger when approaching center hex (subhex 1). Possible source of the anomaly?
