99% of modders are huge assholes. The other is Azanor who somehow manages to completely redo some aspect of Thaumcraft 3 every single update and make it even more awesome. He seems like a pretty cool dude.

In other news, anybody remember Somnia, that mod that made time pass while you were asleep but was never updated past 1.2 or something?

   Kael has a FTB Unleashed server up and I am doing an LP on it. You can find the first video here. I do some stuff though I don't get as much done as I wanted because of sidetracks into ore berries and power suits. If you want to find out more about the server the thread is here.

Is there a particular reason why he needs to use FTB? Just map compatability? Because I'm not sure we should patronize people who try to keep you from mixing mods to your own tastes on your server.

Edit: Or is it just because of the particular mix of mods being awesome?

The reason I use FTB is because it's convenient. That's all.

Incidentally, FTB Unleashed causes too much internet lag that I can't run it, then expect someone from New York to join it without big problems. FTB Ultimate didn't have that problem. So that's a downside.

To those who like their Minecraft cavedorf style, TerraFirmaCraft 0.77 had been released today, rehauling it for more uniform Fun distribution (i.e. no really cool Stone/Early Bronze age followed by tedious grind to Red Steel endgame - adding, amongst other things:

Pottery for early game storage in lieu of chests and as a bag of sorts, along with Pot Kiln

Crucibles for mid-game metalwork

Blast Furnaces for late-game metalwork

Metal Casting

And, of course, for properly Dorfy experience, drinkable BOOZE! Along with status effects for becoming shitfaced.

Yes. It really is a lot of fun, but is also soulrendingly difficult.

Know whats more difficult? Gregtech.

I realized how expensive gregshit is today when the 'uber expensive' magnum torch (uses like 5 diamonds omg!) was so cheap compared to what I have been making that I made 4 of them to blanket my base without even thinking about it. It 'only' took 4 crafting steps! Super easy.

Yes. It really is a lot of fun, but is also soulrendingly difficult.
Know whats more difficult? Gregtech.
A few Better than Wolves changes.

-All blocks take much longer to break.
-Punching wood gives a single wooden plank.
-Punching dirt gives dirt piles instead of blocks.
-No block jumping.
-No wooden or stone tools other than picks and shovels.
-Wooden picks are one use. Stone are six uses.
-Charcoal requires advanced technology to craft.
-Iron smelts into nuggets.
-Torch recipe gives a single torch.

These are just some of the things Better than Wolves does. For example, food is almost impossible to come by, and your hunger drains much faster.

Gregtech does the reduction of vanilla tools as well. It doesn't make the survival component harder like that but does require some ridiculously circuitous grinding for recipes.

I liked BTW back when you could use it with other mods. Probably never will play it now though.

For those that like to keep track of cool mods, Thaumcraft 3 and Ars Magica are no more. Instead, we will soon have Thaumcraft 4 and Ars Magica 2. They are at present in testing for 1.6. If you watch any streamers or youtubers that play on Forgecraft, they will probably be screwing around with both of them for the next while. Haven't seen much of Ars 2 yet, but Thaumcraft's new research system is hella cool.
