So do people still use ModLoader? Most of the mods I used (Zeppelin, Mo'Creatures, etc) required it. What about Thaumcraft, TerraFirma, or some other major mod?

Okay, this is just insane.  I'm going to list the mods I'm using, and I'm officially asking for help.  Any sort of response or insight would be awesome. Note, this is still for MC 1.2.5

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I just realized thats an almost absurdly long list.  I've even dropped a few mods out recently, including the BC/IC2 crossover mod.

Judging strictly by your long list of mods, it is not impossible that some of them are incompatible. It's very possible that this is not the cause, though.

They're not mods that add lots of content, but NEI and Rei's Minimap both require ModLoader. I consider them to be major mods.

TFCraft requires Forge, though most players probably have it installed anyway. Something about TFCraft lends to having Smart Moving installed as well, which requires it.

So...probably should have it anyway?

NEI doesn't use mod loader does it? Forge has mod loader now so that's all you need in the jar file

Problem is, looks like Forge is still stuck on 1.2.5.

EDIT: Actually, looks like several mods are still stuck on 1.2.5. How long has 1.3.1 been out? And is it possible to roll back to a previous version of MC?

Correct, with one exception - NEI goes in the jar as well. I'm a bit hazy about all of the utility mods. NEI can use either FML (by the same guy, ChickenBones) or Forge (which now includes FML), but neither are required for use.

There was a way, dunno if there still is. Using a minecraft rollback program.

Several of the latest versions of MineCraft Forge have their own built-in ModLoader, and as of Forge 3.3.8 also includes its own built-in Audio Mod.   Several of the mods I listed actually say not to have both ModLoader and Forget active at the same time, cause it can cause conflicts.

Viken, have you tried using the Standard version of Optifine?

EDIT: After a bit of research, apparently Smooth version also works fine.

1.3.1 as been out for all of 8 days. It will take a month or more for most mods to update.

Viken, the only solution here is to remove every mod and add things one at a time until you find the culprit.

Theres actually been some talk that Forge won't even be updated until its decided on rather or not the MC devs are going to actually release their own API, though.  There's a discussion about it on the forum.  On that note, the devs want to use it as a way to control modding while restricting the ability to modify the base files, which almost every mod does at the moment.

I have actually tried switching back to Optifine Smooth C6 version, and the problem persists.  But I am working on going through the listing one mod at a time.  The only single point I could find though is NEI itself, which sucks to remove cause its a really useful tool.  >:(

If all else fails there is no harm in trying the Standard version.

Looking through your mod list, if InvTweaks is what I think it is, isn't it incompatible with Convenient Inventory?

Huh. I never noticed that InvTweaks had a discompatibility with Convenient Inventory.  I knew that NEI did, but only with the b ase file CI changed, and not the main mod itself.  I'll see if that helps any. Thanks for pointing that out, SP2.

I come before you Minecraft Mod sages with a request:

Is there mod that would return the old style fast burning and infinitely spreading fire that was in older versions. Un-Nerfed Fire seems to be way too old and Nature Overhaul is for 1.2.5 and it has some features that I dont want.
