Which is precisely why I like them; you can roam until you find a perfect spot instead of needing to shuttle chestloads of junk back and forth each time you move on. My last technic map I settled about 14km from spawn.
And all of this is why I chose not to include EE2 on the servers I am running.  :)

Indeed. I caught someone smelting iron ore to make armor. I was like D:

We need our resources right now to climb the IC2 tiers, armor is a bit of a waste.

Whole setup? Macerator, extractor, electric furnace, etc?

What are you using for power? We could set up a small watermill system fairly easily.

Got a Macerator, Electric Furnace and Extractor, currently running off of a generator.

I plan on getting some solar panels very soon.

Watermill array would be more useful and work at night. :P Use redpower deployer+retriever setup to pull buckets in and out.

Charcoal generation will do for now. The current machine room's only temporary anyway, we'll want to move it later, once we've processed a decent amount of ore.

I planted some more rubber trees and macerated/smelted all ore and extracted all sticky resin.
Took about 3/4th of the stack of charcoal tough.

Also, drills :D

On the subject of IC2, windmills placed in the ~220 height range produces ridiculous amounts of power. I'm currently using 4 to power a mass fabricator consistently.

They're also annoying to place.

Still, if they make lots of power, it can be worth it.
