So, what should I or anyone else say in that situation with the police asking you questions? Just nothing? Like, literally tightlipped? "I invoke dah fif"?
If they approach you on the street and try to talk to you; ask if you are being detained. If they say that you aren't, walk away. (If you are, remain where you are and don't answer anything besides questions pertaining to your identity. If they continue to press you for an answer to something you can just answer that you decline to answer.)

If you find yourself in an interrogation room; which you only should if you're arrested (otherwise you can just leave or refuse to go in the first place), don't say anything. Wait, and wait, and wait in total silence besides the questions being asked at you. Read everything they give you; sign nothing. Even if they say it's a form for your release or some bullshit like that. They can lie to you, and will. Never speak a word to anyone but your lawyer while the two of you are alone.

Oh, and there are a few things you can't usually avoid answering, in which case the correct answer is more often than not "no".

"Do you know why I pulled you over?" "No."

"Do you know how fast you were going?" "No." Or better yet: "(Five Below The Posted Speed Limit) Miles Per Hour."

"Can I take a look in your car?" "No."

"Can we talk inside?" "No."

Yep. Everyone knows that looking like anything other than a police officer means that it's open season on you.

Protip: When a cop asks you if they can search your car, it's not a request. It's bait. Refusal to allow a vehicle search is probable cause, which then results in their immediate right to search your car as a "good faith" search. (They will pad this later on with "I smelled pot/he wasn't acting normal/he seemed hostile when I approached the vehicle...to make their probable cause essentially bullet proof. After all, the law automatically assumes police officers act in good faith unless you can prove they didn't.)

If a cop asks you to search your car, you are already in trouble and you're likely 2 steps away from arrest or at the very least, a ticket. Police officers do not make requests, and if they pose a request to you, they're giving you rope to hang yourself with.

Shut up, be polite, make eye contact, accept your guilt and submit to their requests. Or you will be brutalized and/or shot and killed. If you're lucky, they'll just take some of your dignity from you. And if a cop ever tries to take you to the back of the car.....be afraid. Because the camera in the car only points toward the front.

Stupid, badly-trained, dumb motherfucking cops, no less than that.

NON-LETHAL you GOD DAMNED bastards! You're TRAINED for that! Jesus fucking christ, people make me fucking sick.
I'm thinking the tazers would have killed this poor man just as well, as it mentions he has a bad heart and even young men with perfect health don't always survive tazers. No wonder either, considering it's a few thousand volts zapping through your body.

Besides that, it doesn't seem as if there was a need to take him down.

Edit; I'm baffled so many in this thread assume all police are evil murdering maniacs determined to pin any crime on anyone they speak to. :o

I'm going to take a wild guess that you're white.

I don't assume all cops are psychopaths. But I've interacted with enough paranoid, frightened cops in my lifetime in several states to know that any cop is dangerous as hell if they feel threatened. And they're down right evil when they're acting on their emotions.

That said, there are plenty of swell cops out there. The thing is to be able to tell the difference quickly and to know how to act.

Whatever you do, don't listen to Nenjin.

If you refuse to be searched and they search you anyway it can be used as an argument in court that your fourth amendment rights were violated.

Pffftttt. Good luck with that. You can argue your civil rights all day long, but you'd better be doing it from within the confines of not having resisted arrest or refused a reasonable request from an officer. The courts are firmly on the side of police. If you don't know what good faith is, go have a look. It's a gift to police, and if they need a reason, they will invent one to uphold an arrest.

Who said anything about resisting arrest? That's the worst thing you can do. Obviously you shouldn't resist arrest. You should vocalize your lack of consent, not try to enforce it.

And you want them to end up brutalizing you while you clearly aren't resisting. That's the best thing that can happen in a worst case scenario with a sociopath cop. Wounds heal in weeks and months. Multi-million dollar damage awards/out of court settlements last for much longer.
