Most other major religions are monotheists, ain't they? Though yeah, it's probably ignorant on my part to assume it's athiests.
Ok, brief interlude: if you know it's "monotheist", why do you keep writing "athiest"?  It's not really a criticism, so don't bother looking for an error to point out in this post, it just strikes me as odd.

Hey, being a minority means my opinion matters less, right? I forgot about that. Excuse me while I support this petition, because democracy does not work by the majority (or very vocal minority) shouting down the minorities. It works by having everyone state an opinion and making a rational decision based on those.
This is actually a fairly important point.  The fact that someone else will kick up a fuss about losing an unfair privilege they've had isn't a reason to avoid removing the unfair privilege.

That's the purpose of the political system, so that we may move towards a more perfect Union as time passes and society changes.

But... if they remove that, how will they convince the judge to rule that the old man in Miracle on 34th Street is Santa Claus?

Personally, I think the political system in this country is broken. Democrats, republican? It doesn't matter both parties are lying assholes, mirror images of each other.

I don't really understand why anyone assumes that "in God we trust" or "under God" have historical relevancy at all. They have not been around for long. I think people care more about their own weird personal and political mythologies than the actual history of the matter.

Prior court decisions about it seem to use some rather messed-up rationale, and I hope it gets brought up again.

It needs to be taken off. It's spitting the face of the US's essence as a secular, inclusive republic whose government does not dabble in religion and it's totally unjustifiable.

From the religious perspective, it also needs to go. Christianity (the religion it's meant to be endorsing) and huge, imperial, militaristic governments have no place getting mixed up together. That's how Christianity goes from being a religion that espouses decent behavior to a national cult that you can use to get people riled up to kill each other.

It's wierd. If the text read "In the president we trust." It would be gone in a week.

Well, that would be glorifying the president. Like a king.

God's a lot more prominent than the president.

How so?

Culturally? I guess. Santa Claus and Mickey Mouse are prominent in that sense, too.
In any other fashion? Hell no.

But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

God's supposed to be a being with not flaws, not like a mortal president.

Though I'm not saying that he deserves to be on the bill that much more.

Maybe we should stick a mary-sue fanfiction character on the bill instead. They're without flaws too.

Well, no flaws the author intended anyway. Which is the same with the Christian God! Hey-o~

In serious, it's not a big deal, but still rather silly. I'd prefer it goes, but there *are* bigger fish to fry.

God's a lot more prominent than the president.
Again, maybe in your eyes. To me, no deities exist and thus are far less prominent than who is arguably the most powerful human being on Earth. Not to say I trust the guy. (I have an inherent distrust of our current government, and will continue to have one until they stop screwing everyone over.)
