Eurika lays flat on the ground for a moment, dazed by the leather-clad bullrush of ... dazing. Gah, it was hard to think of anything to insert there. Well, no need to tarry. She had work ta' do!

She gets up and walks into the room, grabs Gavin from under the bed, and considers slapping him with metal, before deciding to ... uh, actually, she didn't decide to do anything yet.

Hmm.

First thing she does is pad his head with Gavin's bag/robe/other cloth. If there is none, she doesn't. Second thing she does is drag him out the door. Third thing she does is ask for two buckets of water, hopefully with ice if it is available - she doubted that. It was neither winter nor were they in the north. Fourth, she empties one bucket on Gavin's lower body. Wait for a moment, and if he shows no signs of waking up throw the bucket at his groin and use the second bucket on his head. If he still stays happily and soggy in the land of the unconscious ones, punch him in the vital areas as hard as she could.

Eurika makes sure she is ready to detain Gavin for questioning, and also waits for the town guard to appear.

"No, thank you for the offer. A nice garden you have here. Not too many useful herbs and plants, but at least it's nice to look at. You mentioned perhaps having a job for me?"
William shifted on the stone bench some and looked at Ienden.
"That thief of an Old Lord must have had it built. Spent money left and right on everything but his people...I assume you've heard the rumors of the plague in the south?"
"I am sorry to say that I did not hear much. I have been focussing on local jobs mostly. And most rumors are too vague for me to make any informed decision about these matters. Most people would not know the difference between one disease and another anyway. Unless you have been schooled in noticing the small differences. Are you expecting the plague to expand this way?"

A Few Days Later...

"Quite alright, my dear, I trust things have been exciting enough for you here?" Terryn replied casually as he awaited a guard to escort him to William, a hint of disinterest creeping into his voice.

AAHH, WHAT, WHERE, HOW....

Gavin was soaked and disoriented. He did not die, but the bandits did give him a good punch. Or two. But right now he was sitting on the floor, wet and with the white-haired woman standing over him with another bucket.

"Hey, what are you doing?!"
He stood up with some dizzynes in his head, swaying a bit. "I hope that you wake your family in a nicer way...  what what that and what is going on? are they gone?"

Eurika pretends to not have heard Gavin wake up and empties the bucket on his face.

Eurika drops the bucket on Gavin's head. With wrist snap!

"Oh, sorry, uh... reverend? Pastor? Preacher? I forgot your name. Anyways, I was trying to wake you up from those thugs, but I also got dazed, so I couldn't see you waking up... Are you OK? Did they dent your skull or anything?"

Eurika didn't bother trying to hide her lie.

"Too bad the preacher-with-shiny-lights couldn't get them to explode. Or, y'know, have a dagger and stab the biggest guy while he was running. Thank you very much for your whole-hearted assistance. In that vein, I place you under arrest, by the authority of the lord William."

She sits on Gavin's chest, trying to detain him until the guard and William shows up.

"Hey, I'm just a servant of the go.. please get of my chest.... I have no weapons or anything. And I don't do magic, it was a blessing. and why are you arresting me?"

From a fantasitc show to crappy situation. In less than few hours. Gavin could not help but notice that he just beat his personal record for getting into trouble in the shortest amount of time.,

Eurika grinned.

Gotcha.

...unintentionally.

"Excuse me, sir? I didn't accuse you of having magic, Talos (was that the name? Eurika didn't know...) forbid! I thought it was a real miracle! But it seems you do use magic! In that case, I really can't get off you. At least I'm a relatively pretty young girl compared to those blokes just now."

She paused, and wiped water off her dagger.

"You're arrested because I can."

Deliberate nonsense. Which was actually true, but it didn't help him much. Probably. Hopefully.

"Eh... what was your name again?"

"Aurelius?"

Aurelius, huh? That was. . . quite a flowery name.

Eurika mock-kissed his cold hand, wet from the water.

"Pleasure to meet you, Aurelius. I'm Ediaca. Except I'm not. What's your real name?"

She lightly traced circles on his chest while waiting. Did the errand boy even get to the manor?

What the hell was she doing.... Anyways, if he revealed himself, he woudl end up dead. Its better if he just kept quiet and stuck to the preacher story. besides, he was too exhausted to cast anything.

"I already told you, my name is Aurelius. just Aurelius. I'm not a high-born, I just have one, single name."

"...Huh."

Well, either he was bluffing, or he really was Aurelius. He seemed to not be willing to say anything more.

Eurika waited until the guard came, absent-mindly wiping her blades.

In the Garden:
"I am sorry to say that I did not hear much. I have been focussing on local jobs mostly. And most rumors are too vague for me to make any informed decision about these matters. Most people would not know the difference between one disease and another anyway. Unless you have been schooled in noticing the small differences. Are you expecting the plague to expand this way?"

"It has occurred to me it might...and I wish to prepare for that eventuality. And maybe...after that...fix it at it's source.
Also as it stands, most of my men lack medical and healing finesse, able to do quick patches, but failing to fight infections and the like. I hope to remedy this. But it seems there are few healers in Polca willing to train others and to provide healing if paid by the government to heal the common folk."

The Bar
William strode into the bar with three of his Guards in tow. He wore a simple black sleeveless tunic and black trousers, with his armor on over the tunic. Zerim was at his waist, in it's sheathe. He...was looking more tired then usual, and had bags under his eyes.
He glanced at Eurika sitting on Aurel-Areul...-Aurelius's chest. After a few seconds, he sat down near a table and took a bottle lying on it. He sniffed it and rubbed the top off before taking a drink.
"So whats all this then? And if it's what I think it is, i'll need a few more drinks. Preferably of something that can be used to light fires."

The Old Lord's Manor
"Yes William? What can I assist you with today?"
"Cant a man come to see his frien-...oh wait we aren't friends are we. Well anyone, just coming to see how your doing since winter. And...to see if you know of anyone- besides me - who had any reason to kill the Captain of the Guard."

Eurika glanced at William.

"Oh, hello. I was just having a chat with ... erm... what was your name again?"

She got up on one knee, pressing on Gavin.

"So, the torture room's prepped, right?"

Hopefully William would recognize what she was planning on doing.
