Eurika bolted up and ran towards Gavin's room. She heard him shout, and slammed the door open.

"Anyone in trouble?"

She put on the facade of a concerned citizen hearing a desperate man in trouble.

((Gah, ninja'd))

After Ardas.

~~~At manor
Eurika knocks at William's study door.
"Sir? William? I've got the gem..."
Then what do you want from me, you thug!? I have nothing of value!
Gavin was an audacious man, but he was not built for fighting, and desired being hit even less. There was no way on this earth that the man knew who gavin was. Unless he met magic before... no. Its impossible. A thug like that wouldn't know one end of a pen from the other. He would know about magi even less.
He dropped to his knees. In keeping with the act, he started mumbling a prayer under his nose. Only this time, the prayer was more than just a decoy. Gavin really wanted to avoid any harm caused by fists or kicks.
Lord's Manor
"Here are my chirurgical tools. They include a sharp knife and some other tools. I would not want to give the impression that I might want to hurt anyone here. Just be careful with them. They were specially made for me."
"We'll give them back as we got them. Or reimburse you for your loss."
"No, thank you for the offer. A nice garden you have here. Not too many useful herbs and plants, but at least it's nice to look at. You mentioned perhaps having a job for me?"
William shifted on the stone bench some and looked at Ienden.
"That thief of an Old Lord must have had it built. Spent money left and right on everything but his people...I assume you've heard the rumors of the plague in the south?"
"Let Lord William know that a knight by the name of Sir Terryn wishes to see him." Terryn stated coolly as he approached the manor, only Oswald at his side. He paused a moment, squinting, and then amended: "Also, hello...Lizzie, was it?"
Lizzy dodged a poke from the Guardsman she was...guarding with.
"Oh, hullo. How've you been?"
"Will is out in the Garden, Madami Eurika. He's probably still out there.."
Eurika exited the back door of the manor and entered the garden.
"Uh... Sir William?"
Eurika calls out tentatively.
Eurika bolted up and ran towards Gavin's room. She heard him shout, and slammed the door open.
"Anyone in trouble?"
She put on the facade of a concerned citizen hearing a desperate man in trouble. She saw a pious man on the floor praying for his prosecutors to please not hurt him. She, keeping up with the 'concerned citizen' act, lay her hands on her two hilts and asked, one eyebrow raised,
"I hope you have the clearance to do that. Else, I might have to call the guards?"
Eh, maybe that wasn't much 'concerned citizen' as 'off-duty guard'. Dang.
Good. At least he was quiet when he was praying. That would at least prevent any unwanted busy bodies from intruding. Terryn took another bite, and then blinked as the door swung open and a feminine voice entered the room. It would appear he had thought too soon.
At the door, Donald turned to face the intruder, crossing his arms over his chest. He was an imposing man, even larger than the knight who commanded him, and he made no attempt to hide the dagger he held, its blade gleaming in the light of a nearby candle.
Terryn sighed, and swallowed an apple chunk. He glanced at the woman from where he casually reclined in a hard-backed wooden chair. "A man in service to the Church of Talos, come to confess his sins to another one in such service. I am afraid he has misunderstood my motives, as often happens when one of my unique and special form of service attempts to contact a member of the faith. I apologize if your dinner was interrupted by such events, I wished only for absolution and forgiveness." As he spoke, his free hand never once strayed from where it was resting on the pommel of not his longsword but his dagger- far more useful in close quarters fighting as it were. At his shoulder, Oswald shifted to loosen his throwing axes in their sheathes.
Ian, standing over the praying priest, opened his clenched fists. After speaking, Terryn could not help but acknowledge how transparent his lie was. But, perhaps, she'd buy it. And if not? Well, he was a capable swordsman himself, and he had three hardened mercenaries at his back. She was but one. A little bloodshed never hurt.
A Few Days Later...
"Quite alright, my dear, I trust things have been exciting enough for you here?" Terryn replied casually as he awaited a guard to escort him to William, a hint of disinterest creeping into his voice.
He saw someone enter the room. It was the white-haired woman again. She seemed to follow Gavin and ask diffiicult questions. Was she taken in by him or was she looking for something else? Who would have thought that Gavin would be popular so quickly?
By the light! Dear lady, help me! This bandit invaded my room while I was consuming my meal and he tried to trick me into something! Now he won't let me go and threatens me with his thugs!
He streched his hands in her direction, carrying on with the pathetic act.But one thing was certain. He looked and behaved like a loony. His act was flawless.
"Now, while I'm not as eloquent a speaker as my dear clergyman here, but I want to ask why do you barge into an unwilling man's room and then try to chop his head off? You are fully armed. Is -he-? I don't think so. You have swords, an axe, and armor. Does he have any? You have the advantage of four to one (or two. maybe.). You are clearly trained soldiers, or at least men of the sword, while he's currently an untrained man being robbed by four trained soldiers over a meal! Even dogs shouldn't be bothered while eating. And a man of, eh, Talos commits such atrocities! "
Of course, the dog part was because they bit, but whatever.
Eurika made sure to raise her voice.
"Now, you men may try and take advantage of me to hush things up, but I'm not taking that. Bandits pretending to be men of the light! I'm sure the honorable lord William will not agree with things."
Eurika half-drew her dagger-and-sword. If push came to pull, she could use the steel to power a spell and run.
Terryn took several bites from the apple as the woman gave her speech, and then flicked away the core once she was finished. It landed at the priest's knees. Then he raised an eyebrow at the woman, completely silent for a moment. A smile cracked his lips. "Girl, you aren't my type. For one, you've a pussy." It was a simple, dead-pan statement. "And in any case, raping you wouldn't shut you or him up."
He sighed, and waved away that particular course of discussion. "We haven't come here with any intention to harm him. I wished only to confess for my sins, as I have told you. If you wish to accuse anyone of banditry, well..."
He paused a moment, considering. She didn't look to be a Taloist at first glance, but that was never anything you could immediately guess at. Still, it was worth a shot. If she wasn't, perhaps she'd never have heard of this 'Golden House' before either. Perhaps he could shift the blame of banditry, if that was the case. If she was a Taloist, both hands were now free to fight his way out.
"Have you ever heard of an order known as The Golden House? I certainly have not, and my men and I have been in service to the Church of Talos since I was but a squire." His question was simple, neither accusatory nor overly curious. He remained calm, assuming he was in control of the situation even if he knew it was rapidly spiraling away from him. Throughout this, his men did not budge. "Put your steel away. My man Donald is the only one to have drawn his blade, and that is only because of this man's hysterics- he would be failing his job as a bodyguard if he did not."
"Lies! He is not of the church! No Light-loving man would invade a humble servant of Talos at this hour and deprive him of sustenance and sleep! Only Church members are privy to information on the Golden House and this ruffian knows nothing and plays dumb!"
He turned towards Terryn, still on his knees.
"Let me go you imbecile! You commited enough sins by claiming to be of church and you lie in front of this woman, while she can plainly see that you have attacked me! I haven't seen any pendants or symbols of faith on you, and you were behaving strangely during the blessing, as if you never participated in any prayers!"
He might be threatening both of them, but the armed man was a poor liar and actor. He was too nonchalant and crude, and he did not have the acting finesse, Gavin thought to himself smugly. He was still afraid of him though.
Eurika raised an eyebrow again at T's first remark.
"Well, if you want to think that, go ahead."
She calls for an errandboy and tells him to fetch.. erm, escort William, by Euri, and please do come with an escort.
"You know... maybe men really are more vulgar than women, despite any evidence to the contrary. I say, advantage, and the first thing you think of is rape? Of course, you could say it is ecause I am not a native of this language... but I digress. "
Eurika said anything, just to get a response, and maybe stall. She could probably take the guards one-on-one, but four to one was reckless. Being insulted was irking, but letting a long-term goal (such as surviving) away for a short-term gain (being less irked for not retaliating) was simply stupid. It wasn't much of a insult anyways.
At least, if that made any difference, she had her armor on under her robe. Leather, but sturdy.
"Put my sword away when your's does first? You have the advantage of numbers, anyways."
Also, what in the world was a Golden House? Sure would be nice to have a golden house. And sell it for parts.
Well, that was interesting. Had she just called for the Lord himself? Terryn smiled again, a saccharine grin. "Aye, but you've two blades to his one." he replied simply, raising his left hand, balled into a fist. "But if this is the game you choose to play, so be it. I'm certain William has his best men on this mystery."
His right hand loosened his dagger in its sheath. "Send the captain my regards." His fist opened.
And in that next moment, several things happened. First, Donald uncrossed his arms, turning a leather-clad shoulder in as he bullrushed the woman, attempting to push past her defenses before she had a chance to react. Next, Oswald pulled both throwing axes from their place at his waist, moving towards the door to back Donald up. Terryn drew his dagger and rose to his feet, slamming a knee into the bottom-side of the table, wincing in pain as the edge caught on his bandaged wound, and flipping it over in the Priest's direction in one fluid movement. Ian drew his own blade, while attempting to deliver a swift, incapacitating kick to the Priest.
And then Terryn and his three companions pushed out of the Priest's room at the inn, working to first incapacitate the swordswoman so she would not follow, and then flee the premises before William and his Crimson Guard arrived.
Laneira cast one more look at Polca before turning her eyes back to the road and the Merchants. She had a bad feeling of the place, but sooner than later, she knew she wanted to return there. Coincidence or Intuition, there was something afoot and even she could feel it in the air.
Inquire about our destination, the pay, and if she and her regiment could lag back, just in case of any pursuers.
Greet archbishop and tell him I came from Hatcur. Then ask about the history of Moun and if there are any shrines dedicated to the Hatcuri dieties.
"We may, certainly. To be entirely honest, the depth of representation in Moun is greater than many of the council could name. The vast majority here is of the religions dominate of the coast. We have many others from Udan to Suul, so I would encourage you to ask around"
You're also directed to the local public Library for information on the history of Moun. Also, apparently someone at the city clerk's office is in charge of keeping records on who is represented in Moun and where.
Quote from: Group Action
[6v2+1] Eurika is knocked prone by Donald while Terryn and Ian [54] knock Gavin out and leave. [4] The City Guard doesnt arrive before Terryn and crew are long gone.
Inquire about our destination, the pay, and if she and her regiment could lag back, just in case of any pursuers.
The pay will be light .[2]d per regiment in tow, but everyone present is more than welcome to sign on for further work at better pay.
The destination is Ligoria, a communal stop on their trade routes but none of the merchants enjoy staying in Ligoria the past few years. You're filled in on the basic details of the civil issues that have caused a change of command from the Queen, to the Pair of "Lords", to the death of one Lord and the sole rule of the other.
William arranges a meeting with the Old Lord.
[3] You're led to him in his study. He seems to be diligently doing his business. Aides and such periodically flow in and out of his office.
"Yes William? What can I assist you with today?"
