EA have issued a clarification to Gamespy that while you will have to have an internet connection to launch SimCity, it will not boot you off if your connection goes down.

I have to admit some of the new stuff sounds cool. But I'm unsure if I'd just be better off going back to Tropico 3 or getting Tropico 4 plus it's expansion whenever it comes out and goes on sale somehow.

No word yet on DLC, but Katsarelis says SimCity will be as easy to update as The Sims games have been in the past.

Dangit. It sounded so good up until that part!

They're turning it into The Sims. It wasn't cool the third time I had to buy Sims #: Pets, and now they expect me to buy SimCity5: Pets, too!

Thank God.  Because this happens to my computer, about every fifteen minutes:

Looks like EA is going to transform the good old SimCity into Cities XL, only without subscription. Damn it, I've wanted to see a proper single-player mode, and not a pseudo-MMO game!

They fear that if they make another good one like the fourth, nobody would buy the sequel. Now they can just shut off the servers.

See, there is a reason why I've a perma boycott on EA stuff.

New RPS article.

Aside from more talk about Glassbox, there is a mention that the graphical style they are going for is a 'tilt-shift' style. Essentially it makes a scene look like it is built out of miniatures.

Ring your ISP or check home network, that should not be happening and is easily resolved, normally its poor wireless link or terrible internal cabling, if its none of those its you service provider and needs to be sorted.

It's both of those.
- The apartment is ancient, and the wiring's not great.
- It's an apartment complex.  EVERYONE is using wireless.  When people get home and turn on Netflix, everyone's connection goes to shit because we're stepping on each other's wireless channels.

Things have improved recently though...a little.

Use a sniffer and find a channel that has the least/no traffic.

It's a CROWDED apartment complex, man, populated by 80% Microsoft employees.  There is no "least/no traffic" here.

Be sneaky and use one of the channels that aren't normally used in the US, like 12/13. Or... you know... use a cable.
