Rogue Trader: Friday 9PM GMT
« on: February 29, 2012, 03:52:33 am »

Rogue Trader you say? Whats that?

Well its a PnP game set in the 40k universe. The players take the role of either a Rogue Trader or his valued, or perhaps disposable, crew.

Rogue Traders are by their very name and warrant, given incredible amounts of freedom. Using this freedom, many Rogue Traders become extremely rich and prestigious, or end up killed in an extremely gruesome manner, or enslaved. Trust me when I say dying is far better. They can get rich (or die painfully) through a large variety of paths and tasks. The Dynasty (that of the Trader) may deal in lost Archaeotech, conquer worlds, harvest resources, fight off aliens, smuggle Xenotech, or just be pirates. Pirates are always fun. Course there are other options such as escorting almost heretical tech-priests and officials or working with other traders-or even aliens- but lets not get ahead of ourselves, eh?

Books I have
Just so you know.

Rogue Trader
Into The Storm
Battlefleet Koronus
Edge of the Abyss

So how are we playing this? What time?

I'd be up for a game. I'm not familiar with the mechanics of warhammer, but I'm in a few D&D games. I'll start getting the books soon. I'm assuming that characters are starting at level 1 (if there is a level system)?

That should be 3 am EST if I'm not mistaken.

What kind of crew are we going to be? (Ruthless pirates, privateers, assassins, scavengers, etc.) It's probably a good idea to an idea in mind before we start character creation.

I think I'll either be a mechanic, or a navigator. I assume that there is a mechanic right?

Well the equivalent of level 1.

8am Gmt+10 would be 11pm GMT+1 if i am right?

I meant as in that we roll for the stats and not through allocating points or such. But if you guys want, I could restrict myself to vanilla.

11pm GMT+1? guess i'm out, but I have the book and I'll be happy to follow your adventures  :D

BTW, I have an adventure somewhat prepared so if Mr.GM want it, I'll be happy to provide.

Timezones, how I loathe them. But if you have something in mind, feel free to PM me.

That should be 3 am EST if I'm not mistaken.

I'm letting you guys decide want you guys are going to be.

IMPORTANT: If anyone wants to roll their characters, PM me. I'll help as well if your new to rolling a character.
IMPORTANT: Decide. Maptools or IRC.

Maptools.

I think I'll either be a mechanic, or a navigator. I assume that there is a mechanic right?
I would like to be a large part of away teams. Maybe a science officer?

The rolls are:

Rogue trader: Leader. (A player almost certainly has to be this)
Arch-Militant: Weapon master.
Astropath Transcendent: Powerful Psyker is the living radio. (Needs to be one, if a player is not one we need a npc.)
Explorator: Tech Priest. (This would be your mechanic. Not strictly needed, but if we don't have one it closes some stuff.)
Missionary: Priest of the god emperor.
Navigator: Mutated... Navigator. (Needs to be one, if a player is not one we need a npc.)
Seneschal: Expert in... Being second in command?
Void-master: Ship master.

The thing is, everyone is good enough at fighting. Sure, the Arch-Militant or Explorator might be the guy with the heavy weapons in some situations, but most of the time anyone can pick up a gun and blast away with the best of them. Classes are really about what nitch rolls they fill, everyone fills the main roll of damage dealer.

A important thing to note here. We are all very important people already. A powerful Rogue trader can be stronger then a planetary governor, or even a governor of a star system. We have hundreds of people working under us already, and the PCs who are not the Rogue trader are considered his inner council. We don't partake in normal economics and use money, we use influence to gain what we want on a large scale. Command of 10s of thousands of troops are within our grasp. Whole worlds can burn at our command.

So, this is not a little group of adventures running around in a small star ship, so keep that in mind.

If you have port forwarding I'd be happy to use Maptools.

Would anyone be willing to help me make a character? I'd rather use irc for that rather than PMs.
