Good news boys and girls, that mod I'm working on is now entering a playtest. Finally got all the civs working, and even got a delightful new threat courtesy of StagnantSoul: Pyromancers!

EDIT: And apparently the world's first Pyromancer proceeded write a 162 page biography titled "My friend, The Kobold." About a kobold named Stublufuthayldis. I'm guessing the kobold in question helped him get the slab on pyromancy.

In this wild era of myth and pure unknown which flirted with oblivion and the creatures of the deepest depths forgotten before the first foot sank into the marshlands of a world that violently collided into existence. In the eon of forgotten songs and disbelieved rumour, from the filings of the first axe and the utterances of the first kobold, when demons first began to seep their influence upwards from the pits they had been sealed in at the death of the last world, which was buried in the null spaces of an unknown medium and called from the unworld of en potentia arose a civilization.
Unwitting that their kingdoms and jarldoms would grow together in order against a storied wild full of the guardians and molesters of the beautiful infant world and carve a legacy that was a mere means to an end... Dwarves warred, danced, sang in the deep. They drank, ate, and married, bearing child and taming beast. They smithed for themselves and their kin weapons whose kin would not be known again for all that's been... Yet that was the past and from the past arose and unsuspecting present hurtling through the cosmos to a perilous and uncertain future. For what enemies lay in the deep or hide in the shade of the wood - these were natural and of common soul to the Dwarves. The alien force lying in wait within and without they never saw and they knew not.
Yet always was it there, waiting en potentia with them and ever did it watch them, and guide them, and make until itself vessels for its purposes. Never suspecting they, that all they were was as pawns in a grand game. Echoes of familiarity rang in the dark and in legend. So in them their faults were preserved and abolished as uniquity would allow and their whispers and their tales of greater and lesser beings were told unheard by those who would soon invade a new land.

It was rumoured by some that all the world came from a Toad, though dissenters found it quite bizarre and argued that no toad would ever have the wherewithal to create such a complex world. Of course, the defenders of this grand cosmogenic theory were quick to point out that the dissenter's notions of an anthromorphosized creator were truly no less bizarre and that if the world had been created by a man, ought there not be many more men than toads anyway? All the while, others debated over whether the word Toad might more accurately be translated as Frog, and so worshipped a giant golden Frog that they called Sir Frog, counting the Toady Ones as heretics.
Meanwhile, others found all this bickering over space-amphibians to be quite silly and counterintuitive to life's goals of drinking and partying and anyways, everyone knows that the world was made by a gigantic hulking beast of metal and stone who hammered out the primordial metal into all that every was, discarding all that would Never Be into the slagheap known as the hells. These were the Dwarves.

Well, I added that because I didn't really like the idea of the dwarves coming off as pan-dimensional garbage pretty much. At least that's what I got from it.

Ah... No, that wasn't my intention. It was supposed to be that it was just like necromancers and humans arguing over the toads while the Dwarves know about Armok. It was supposed to be sort of in the style of Pratchett, but it's sort of a rhetorical setup. I mean, I kinda get what you mean about how it's structured like the punchline is dwarves, but really the humour is supposed to be at the expense of others rather than the dwarves themselves. Then I'm going on to describe the life pattern of a dwarf fortress dwarf and then start showing it being interrupted - probably by Mr Frog. The pan-dimensional company of doom that runs all the shady sci-fi stuff whose name I sadly can't remember right now, I figure they're going to be the ones to puncture this universe and bring over the Spearbreakers elements. I was even intending to have it structured sorta like they're possibly the (sub)creators of this world.
