How does hammerer work? What is wrong with my setup?
- I have chained vampire for a murder (just a sucker) but there is no sign of execution or beating.
- I have appointed hammerer/sheriff. Is there a conflict of professions?
- I have artifact gold warhammer but hammerer doesn't claim it.

My axedorf's equipment is all waiting for him in the forge, and in the (m)ilitary (e)quip screen it shows him as having everything I've made on him, but if I (v)iew his (i)nventory he's only wearing a few pieces of my wonderful steel armor. Is this a bug, or am I setting up his uniform wrong?
Try stationing him somewhere and see if he goes to pick up his stuff first.
The checkmarks on the equipment screen mean that they've claimed a piece of equipment, not that they're wearing it.
He's been stationed and in combat so far, I've also tried telling him to put it instead of his civilian clothing, but he (and my new hammerdwarf) refuse to wear their entire suits of armor.

Check the Justice screen, probably the vampire was just sentenced to 100 days in prison.
There is no conflict between hammerer and sheriff, a dwarf can hold several offices.
Dwarfs never claim artifact weapons, except if you tell them to in the Uniforms setup.

HOW MUCH FUEL DOES ONE GIANT AXE BLADE NEED?!

Up to 18 bars of coke now, and my metalsmith is still grabbing more.

Possibly like the Planepacked bug?  Do you have any burrows set up that the workshop might be conflicting with?

the latest. If you want the one before hauling changes, 34.07

if you want a completely stable and bug free version, see you in 10 years

Just generally not crashing after saves, freezing up on pauses, or messing up buildings.

I think I had the first two in 34.11, without a whole lot of playing either

I can't be shure because I think my hard drive might be dying. (backed up)
Or it might be fine since I uninstalled evernote. *shrug.

An area in one of my worlds lists "Tower" and "Mountain Halls" along with the other civs in the civs screen. There appears to be a road leading between two mountain halls, and midway through it, there's a necromancer's tower. Has the necromancer overtaken a Dwarven mountain hall, and if so, will I get zombie dwarf sieges from it?

My outdoor farm plots keep disappearing. Is it the winter weather or is the Kobold and Goblin thieves popping up?

I haven't had crashing during Fortress mode play.  There are of course still open bugs on 34.11, many of which have been unfixed for years, some of which are new.  Soldiers seem to be especially likely not to equip all their armor in this version, compared to previous versions.  And a lot of people dislike the new hauling/stockpile system, introduced in 34.08.  But apart from those things, it seems stable.

The player is guaranteed Undead Sieges, regardless of embark subregion alignment, if the neighbor is a Tower.  In larger worldgens, more than one mountainhome gets made.  By tabbing at the embark window and using up down arrows, the player can choose which to use.  Some are at war, sometimes.  Those can be a lil more challenging.  Take care, Knutor
