NOTE: I don't think we should discuss matters of StA interest on the forums. Many StA members are not members of Bay12.

Its a pity that the alliance forum is such a mess and that no one uses it.

Indeed. One thing Illyriad is worse in when compared to other games of its like such as TW is that its forum administrator tools are rather limited. Very limited.

I don't see why not, it keeps a chronological update on how we're doing on record in a relatively neat manner and it's not really any more obscure than talking about StA interests in AC while not everyone's on. Makes for easy cross referencing too.

This thread interested me, so I made an account and now I am messing with my first city.
5 minute buildings are annoying, but I that should be over soon.

Furthermore, as we can see, it spurs interest in the game, which was 80% of our rationale for using this thread to talk about what's going on with the alliance. Non-Bay12 members can always read the thread and talk about things with the alliance in-game.

And cant we just send a alliance wide message with a link to Bay12? And it might make other people play DF, which is always a plus.

By the brilliance of Andrea, we have acquired ourselves a NEW FORUM!

(Because the in game one is shoddy).

Hooray! Not that I care that much...
Is it linked in the Alliance page?

With the entirely new, fresh, open for colonization continent on the way http://www.illyriad.co.uk/brokenlands
we should slowly start looking for a nice island to conquer as soon as it goes live.

The small island on the map above the ray-gun seems pretty nice :P  http://www.illyriad.co.uk/BrokenLands/Map

Joined the game and looks intriguing so far.

And can I join the alliance? My name is the same as it is here.

Are you guys still active and recruiting? And do you take lowly humans? Just finished up my newbie protection period and it's interesting so far.

The community seems really great compared to what I've seen in most other games in the genre.

1. Most probably.
2. Yes. I had one town with something like 100 pop when I was taken in.

Question: Do I need cotters with the foraging tech before I can harvest all those herbs and minerals I'm seeing on my map?

This fort really does sit on the event horizon of madness and catastrophe
No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

I just sent a join request to KillianBlack in game. Is there room for my little hamlet closer to alliance territory? I spawned in Middle Kingdom, and you guys feel a long way off.

And tryrar, good question ... because I can't harvest that stuff with a normal caravan. But, according to the wiki, it looks like we need cotters.

Invite has been sent. There are lots of very nice spots to move to in our homelands; IGM me for a list (I think I had a list somewhere...)

Normal caravans can harvest any basic res (wood/clay/iron/stone/food/gold) you see on you map right away.
Cotters need foraging tech so they can harvest basic hides/minerals/herbs. You can sell this stuff for quite a bit of gold.. and since larger players have almost no space for many cotters in their cities, the prices are kept nice and high.

You'll need the more advanced Skinners to gather the rarer things like alligator tails later on.

Also, while Illyriad is very friendly and welcoming to new players, it is not always a peaceful place to the more established. The Great Trove War has just come to a close, it lasted over 4 months and involved two massive coalitions including about 18 of the top 30 alliances.
Luckily we were unaffected on our Island of Solitude, but it was still a glorious spectacle :D
