I was just reading that thread, and I realized that it might not actually work properly in 0.31 - in a smaller setup (with a 3-step repeater hooked up to some danger room spikes), a pressure plate beneath an active pump would not trigger when water fell onto it, presumably because the pump lifted it up before the pressure plate could react.
