I don't think so...or at least the double floodgate method has always seemed the safest to me. Better than screwing around with channels, anyway.

I haven't been on the computer much lately, but glad I had a chance to catch up on this story.  :) I'm pretty curious to see how long you're going to manage with no alcohol too...

If he cancels the rightmost floodgate before it is built he should be fine. Otherwise he'll need to link the rightmost floodgate to the lever and then open the floodgate so he can access the leftmost floodgate. Because the lever is already set to 'floodgates open' the leftmost floodgate will immediately open once it is linked to the lever.
