With voice acting...

The really difficult part is to make it seem not ridiculous.

This whole thing is really making me want to start making DF-style ASCII posters for existing movies...

Cacame or One Dwarf vs the World would be pretty good movie stories. Boatmurdered, on the other hand, is the history of an entire city. The only thing which would do it justice would be an almost World War Z style documentary, something which would require massive rewrites and more likely than not would fall flat on its face without proffessional scriptwriters and a hollywood budget. One dwarf vs the world is a good one, since as before mentioned, there are very few characters, in addition to it taking place in a very small number of settings (pretty much just in the cave with a few mammoth at the river scenes).

Quite a monumental task, but good luck!

Not really ... http://www.wreckamovie.com/

You still need at least some budget and project to be interesting enough so that people participate in it thou.

I'd say Tholtig should spark some interest.

Toady had no issue with me using DF elements in fiction I've got posted on a commercial site, so I can't imagine him objecting to a fan-film. Do what I did and just ask nicely, and plug DF at the same time.

But the only director who might conceivably capture the true spirit of a SomethingAwful DF Let's Play on the silver screen is Uwe Boll.

Never used Dwarf Therapist, mods or tilesets in all the years I've been playing.
I think Toady's confusing interface better simulates the experience of a bunch of disorganised drunken dwarves running a fort.

I guess movie title would be "Springtime for Urist".

The question is... how?
3D rendered, life action (please not), animated ASCII, flash...
I think live action with ASCII costumes would be wonderful.
Although I think flash would be BEST.

Probably the best way to do it would be computer animation via blender or similar program. Low/no budget live acting usually turns into something barely worthy of being put on youtube, and ASCII would just be redundant.

Or if you are going for humor, a combination of all three, cutting out during epic battle scenes into ASCII with 8 bit music. Thus taking the fourth wall, putting it through a wood chipper, then burning it while cackling insanely.  ;D Similar to this: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2010/03/23/college-humor-rpg-heroes-are-jerks/

I was going to suggest Nist Akath to the list, but that probably wouldn't be any easier than boatmurdered, would it?
