Lightly Dusted
« on: April 13, 2010, 04:06:49 pm »

I've never noticed this in 40d. I think it occurred when my miners were trying to clear away all the stalactites in the caves, and collapsed a section near my military.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Anyone notice this before, or have I just managed to always miss it?

I think its new.  Cavein dust seems to stick to things, I had a red sand wall turn grey after I dropped a constructed floor on some haulers.

Agreeing; I'd never noticed that before. Just one more subtle addition, eh?

This had better foreshadow gruesome lung ailments in the next update. Black lung for coal miners, silicosis for glass makers, tuberculosis for everyone else. The possibilities are endless!

Ha! The joke's on you! After my miners are done their work, they'll make glass!

Er, wait...

Hey, I'm cool with you tying a dog up and shooting it with a ballista if you're short on elves, but there's not need to lie about it to us.

I've also seen "pile of black sand" sitting on tiles from cave-ins.

Cool!

Heh, I've seen gray 'pools of water' INSIDE my Murky Pools, in 5/7 water tiles. This was after I dug through the ice after channelling, and sometimes I had to remove ramps twice (the ice ramps, and then the soil ramps), so I really have no idea which step caused it. I think it shows up as 'ice' in the Stocks list too :o

The funniest part being a dwarf actually butchered the stupid thing.  Necrotic poison is the tastiest of spices.

I saw a post over in the modding section where someone has modded coal to do just this.  He got it working by making a special mineral that occurrs in coal veins that looks exactly like coal but that boils off into a venomous vapor causing the disease.

Isn't liver failure inevitable anyway? Or do Dwarven livers process alcohol better that humans?

Dwarven livers REQUIRE alcohol for proper operation, without it they cannot properly function.

A dwarf is nothing but an alcohol powered beard.
