Ran into HFS on my second fort.  I didn't know much about the game, and when I was picking a location I checked "other features" thinking there was a list of different little things that it would be choosing from, like maybe tar pits, geysers or something along those lines.  A couple years into the fort, I found those other features.  And shortly after that I found another fort.

I've just thought of another reason why I don't regret spoiling it for myself.  The place I found out about it was in the Boatmurdered chronicles.  'Nuff said.

I don't particularly regret it, no.  Honestly, I prefer digging into flat land, usually a grass or scrub that borders along a forest (for the wood).  Since I hear the HFS only appears in mountains (If the Wiki is to be trusted), well, I'm not too likely to find it.

I Don't know why, but on discovering HFS, It killed my frame rate before my dwarfs, 20fps is far more irritating than loosing it to the HFS.

Do the SoF keep respawning? My legendary champion is on his 13th kill now but I'm worried he cant keep this up

Nope, once you kill the big guy they all stop spawning.

I don't regret it no, there's much more to the game then HFS anyways, all of which could be "spoilers" if you look at it from a certain viewpoint (caveriver, magma, artifacts, nobles, etc,...). But i respect spoilertagging it. In fact, personally all that "secret" talk about it (which i read, hihi) just build up the tension from when i did finally discover it and breached it, even with all the warnings my fort still crumbled to ashes in mere minutes.
