Really good Haiku
Does not need Such strict rules
Three lines build Haiku

River flowing Quickly
Through my fortress
Sorry Dwarves

(I'm serious in the first one, High school english teachs us that the 5-7-5 rule is a guildline, not a rule.  Personally, having read a few dozen haiku for a class, I can say that generally if you are conforming to the 5-7-5 rule you are limiting yourself unnecessarily.  It's the three connected statements that's important.)

True, but since people are generally more familiar with the 5-7-5 rule than other forms, they tend to use it more.

One Dwarf
Giant Cave spider moves in
Urist McNorris kicks ass

Bad, I know-trying to describe the incident where a single unarmed, untrained dwarf of mine killed a giant cave spider.

218. No matter my alignment, organizing halfling pit fights is a violation.
231. I am not allowed to do anything that would make a Sith Lord cry.
240. Any character with more than three skills specializing in chainsaw is vetoed.

i know it will be awesome
A freaking coffin

A coffin is good!
Instant royal mausoleum!
Put your king in one.

Good idea but
Runtime error killed my fort
Will do that next time

Not savescumming, were you? Hm?
That's way bad karma.

All the haulage done.
Walls constructed, floors engraved.
Megaproject time!

Magma storage lake.
Filled from above, overflows.
Please don't catch fire...

Elven caravan.
Locked in and drowned. Diplomat?
AAAAAAAAA... *sizzle*

Balanced on support.
Sign, 'NOBLES ONLY LEVER'.
Lever elsewhere? *click*

A tendon in the skull has been torn!
The Raven has been knocked unconcious!

Elves do it in trees. Humans do it in wooden structures. Dwarves? Dwarves do it underground. With magma.
