Oh Gordon Freeman, what medical procedure can't you educate alien war machines about?

Orbstome.
I've got a river (now carp-less), heavy forestation, and a magma vent in my front yard.
Reclaim's going good though!  ;D Giant Magma-filled Obsidian Orb with lots of engravings everywhere is going to be started soon.

And Exitceilings makes me think of Dwarven ejector seats. Maybe lots of 1x1 Drawbridge for nobles quick vertical transport?

I really enjoy making my own names.  My current coastal fortress is Shorebolder the Great Black Tower-Castle of Light (it will have three lighthouses and it's made completely from obsidian), founded by the Ancient Order of Iron, a part of the Torrid Tomb.

For random names, I'd have to say my weirdest was Glazedcactus.  I eventually made a 3-d cactus out of olivine with copper upright spikes; absolutely pointless, yet fitting  ;D.  Could never figure out how to glaze it, though...

Syrupcovered. Founded by the Drowned Something-or-other. The best part was that the fort ended up drowning when I tried to make an artificial waterfall.
A waterfall of syrup?

Exitceilings sadly reminds me of my last fort - the meeting area was exposed to the sun and only partially covered by bridges, and ambushing bowgoblins fired countless arrows through the opening in the ceiling to kill all of my animals and a couple dozen dwarves (from a fort that only had 40-something dwarves before the massacre)

There are three things I know about dwarves:
1. They've got beards. Even the women.
2. They're short. Especially the women.
3. They're Scottish.

Military dorfs are the busiest if their partner is also in the military, Military children are my forts future, also its hilariously tragic when a mother carrying her child into battle gets hit, and the baby dies....
I fixed that up for you.

Only in Dwarf Fortress would you try to catch a mermaid to butcher her and make trophies out of her bones

My current fortress is Shootgravel, occupied by The Rythmic Iron.

I suppose I need to build lot and lots of catapults.
