One time I took a fancy to this one human swordsmaster's armor in one of my games. This was bout my fifth village that I was killing, so I just attacked him. He killed me by chopping of one of my legs, then the other, then one of my arms, then the other, and then finally beheading me. So I decided I would start another adventurer and go kill him, he killed me again... in the same way. He killed about 25 adventurers in this method, so that whenever he would first see you he would yell at you for forever, and then kill you with limbs and heads flying all over the tavern he was in.

Oh! You control the Dark Knights!

Are You?

Man. After killing so many that'd be a big boost to his confidence. I think it'd be kool if entities were given a boost after a long kill streak. Nothing great, afterall, pride comes before a fall. I'd still like to see some kind of bonus.

I once decided to build a overground glass fortress next to a volcano. Knowing sieges only "engage" once a cap of 50 or more dwarves arrive i developed a system to "purge" them into the magma vent. This considerably slowed my fortress advancement but reassured me that all would be well.

After 3 or 4 years everything was well organized and a small maze would greet all invasion force as well as a full magma tower ready to be spent on anyone coming near.
And so i begin letting the immigrants survive.

1 year

2 years
...
3 years and still no invasion force. Not even a thief.

My fort was like an emerald castle 167 dwarf strong but nobody ever, ever came apart from the traders.
"Alles für die Katz" as the Germans say.

Needless to say every-one ended on the drawbridge over the vent before I abandoned.

I once had a cyclopse rip my shield off, followed by some limbs.  Dauntless, I returned with a new adventurer and started throwing rocks at him from a safe, hidden distance.  I gave him a fair number of bruises and kept the pelting up but rather then hitting more as my skill increased, I was hitting less.  Then I realized that I'd grinded my enemies defense up with non-lethal attacks.  His shield use was so high that he could block anything I threw at him.  Rather then destroying the big bad evil, I'd given him a custom training camp.

My guess is that knowledge of fortress deaths spreads to any siegers. Perhaps you should try this again, this time using the the population cap init option to control immigration.

I had a hunter hunting near a chasm.
While I was working on my fortress I suddenly got a message that the hunter was interrupted by a giant cave swallow.

I zoom to the location, where the hunter was lying uncouncious in a pool of blood with the swallow right on top of him. The hunter's throat was torn out already, his upper and lower body broken, and his right leg mangled.

I zoom back to my fortress and start the funeral preperations. I build a coffin and place it in an alcove...

... only I hadn't gotten a message of the hunter dying yet.

So I zoom back to the location. The hunter is still uncouncious, only the giant cave swallow is nowhere to be found.

To my surprise another dwarf gets to his location and takes him back to the fort and puts him in bed.
I can't believe it! His throat is torn out yet the bugger is still alive.

As he gets put in bed I get a message: "Hunter cancels rest: Interrupted by Giant Cave Swallow".
I squeek and quickly search around for any giant cave swallows in my fortress, but none are to be found. The hunter lies in bed, not resting, but alive.

I check his toughness, because this must be one tough son of a dwarf. He is normal tough, nothing special.
I know he'll probably never get up again, but I admire the little one's will to hold on to life, and kinda grow fond of him. I want him to survive.

Two seasons pass, and the dwarf is still alive, uncouncious still, but alive.
I can't imagine how he does that without a throat.

I then save and load quickly, to make a quicksave.

... upon loading the hunter dies instantly.

Musta been a bug.

Or some dwarf managed to miraculously stop the massive bleeding, anastomize the jugular and carotid, and give him a tracheotomy.

One time I modded in a fire elemental creature that could be found all over the world. One time a group of them decided to challenge me on a glacier that I was wandering on. They had fixed temperatures. This caused the entire group of them, (about 8-10) to instantly melt the glacier beneath their feet, sink in, and then be refrozen into the ice. The entire encounter took only one frame, and it was one of the craziest things that has happened to me.

Another time I versed these creatures on a glacier again with the same result except for one difference, one of the creatures started out with me on top of him, causing me to also be instantly frozen into the ice.

Look what just happened to my adventurer:

The Troglodyte strikes at You but the shot is blocked!
The Troglodyte grabs You by the Iron maul with her left hand!
The Troglodyte strikes at You but the shot is blocked!
You've lost possession of the Iron maul.
The Troglodyte bashes You in the upper body with her Iron maul!
It collapses into a lump of gore!
You are propelled away by the force of the blow!
You have been struck down.

In my minds eye I can see the mortally wounded Urist McStabbedApple saved by Urist McFrankenstein timely application of a mechanical heart.  Wasn't building prosthetic limbs on the dev goals?  Can't remember.

IIRC, being rescued stops bleeding instantly or atleast refills blood supply.

That's even worse when my countless adventurers keep getting their guts sprayed everywhere by the giant viciously wielding a pair of pants stolen from it's first unfortunate victim.

I mean, what do you tell their kids?
