I am willing to team up.

Do you want to make the team, or should I?

I found someone on a tiny DCSS Facebook group. Add "quinnr" and let me know your username and we will have 3.  :)

Done. It looks like the other teammate didn't show up and it closes in 4 hours, oop. I let him know to check his file and added you. Thanks!

I just had an ominous sign. I joined Dithmenos, and the lights in my room flickered.

...and I lost that game.

If there's still time to join up, I'd be willing to put in some hours.

That said, I'm stuck at work for a while yet - is it even possible to add me to the team in time? Player name is AlStar on the Crawl servers as well.

They closed team rearrangements yesterday but I like the community of the Tourney so feel free to share your competition page and post updates. You can still play, just clan sign-up closed. I miss the days of 4 DCSS panels and separate tourney threads!

I escaped with the orb. I think that's it for me this tourney.

Don't we all! I also slightly miss the time when the DF dev log was more like a relatively unknown news feed, where things like community Dungeon Crawl tournaments could be announced. :D Though the world where Tarn and Zach finally got the recognition and profits they deserve is definitely preferred.

I keep checking the game out about once every few years, trying out a few characters, but I think I hit my pinnacle in this game by getting my first win during one of the ancient tournaments, apparently back in 2010 (!!!!).

What's the coolest thing that has been added to the game in the recent years?

Well, the game changes a lot, all the time. I played a lot between 2017 and 2021 and many things have changed since then.
New races, some removed, new gods, gods reworked, new items, new bosses, etc...

"Coolest" is hard, the game feels very familiar still. But there's been a lot of quality of life changes. In particular, it's way less keystrokes to play spellcasters now with the updated 'Q'uiver system.

Webtiles has also been cleaned up a lot; and despite playing ASCII for decades I finally switched over to the visual tiles there for whatever that's worth.

... also apparently no more zot defense. Was going to ask, but I figured it's small so I'll just grab it and check, but... it's gone. There goes that short moment of renewed interest in dcss, ha.
