The Plague MasterAll evidence points to the king as perpetrator of the blackmail. The letters discovered come from the palace, the cures in palace vials - and worse, evidence of sources of the plague being used to poison wells and water sources throughout the land. You are all but ready to attempt to arrest the king himself when Bradley's Intriguing Knight stumbles upon the real perpetrator - the king's chamberlain! His identity revealed, half the palace guard sprung to the chamberlain's aid in an attempted coup, but the Charming Captain and the remnants of the king's guard were able to overpower them and slay the treacherous chamberlain. With the captured guard in chains, a purge of the spy network was possible thanks to their 'volunteered' information on the identity of plants and moles amongst our informers. More importantly, the cure for the plague has been found! All that remains now is its distribution.

The success of this crisis strengthens the Ministry of the Interior. The Scholarly PoisoningsThe Devout Swindler and the Learned Thief have known more than a few poisoners in their time, and it wasn't hard for them to track down the method - the scholars all eat at a common refectory, given food from a menu provided by the Library's cook. Interrogation of the cook revealed her innocence, but suggested that sometimes scholars took turn helping her out in the kitchen. The scholar in question, a foreigner from Moun, attempted to break and flee when discovered, but has been safely handed over to the Ministry of the Interior for questioning. Meanwhile, the Wrathful Librarian (after a certain amount of irate shouting) was able to determine the poison used (Vidic's Eye extract) and an antidote - the poisoned scholars have made a full recovery.

The monks there are surely dead, but this is a clear strike against the integrity of the faith. If something is not done, they can only go on to reave across the rest of Elbreth!
This is now a Major Crisis.JanuaryThe sleeping sickness may finally be at an end as the new year dawns, and things are looking up for Elbreth. The king is overjoyed, but saddened at the treachery of a life-long friend. A new chamberlain has been appointed, and the king currently favours Cinad and Harriet Bradley.
The Order of St Julian
The warships of the Order of St Julian have been spotted on our shores. The Order are a band of pirates, using the excuse of their heathen faith (one of the countess Samakhet religions) to pillage and raid our coastal villages. The actual damage they are capable of inflicting is minimal, but the morale of our people will fall - this may be considered an attack upon the faith. The people's hearts must be restored - and the pirates driven away.

The Blessing of Suul
The cure is ready to be distributed, and the members of the church have an idea to tie in the cure with one of the miracles of scripture - the Cleansing of the Father of Suul (in which the Father of Suul was baptised and cured of his ailments by a saint, prior to his ascension). It will take some research and dedication, but holding a special ceremony to supplicate the Father for his aid (concurrent with the cure being revealed) could help strengthen the faith a fair deal.

Heretic Undercurrents
With the recent distancing of the Church from Elbreth, there are whispers in the halls of the Faith as to whether the Archbishop truly has the local church's best interests in mind. With the spread of heresy across the nation, a case could be made to convert to Mounish Heterodoxy. Otherwise, an argument should be made to reinforce the doubtful amongst the faith. For now, the whispers remain just that - whispers. Who knows what they might grow into?

The Fall of the Clergy
Across the realm, priests and clerics are falling sick or even just dead. The cures for the sleeping sickness and for Vidic's Eye have been tried, to no avail. A new poison is being used, and evidently a great many agents are being used to spread it. Over half the clergy are at threat, and the foundations of the Church quiver.

Arms Imports Halted
Elbreth lacks sufficient sources of iron within its borders to supply the royal army. Therefore, the army's arms are imported from abroad - the Duchy of Galam to be precise. Now, for no discernible reason, the imports have stopped and the companies in question are completely unheard from. Still, the situation is not completely hopeless. Weyland, to the north, has deposits of iron that could be extracted, although not the skill to properly forge equipment of the required standard. If an import treaty could be arranged with Weyland and armourers of sufficient skill set to work, this disaster could turn to our advantage.
