I apologize, I didn't mean to offend. I'm just saying that someone who doesn't believe that they're going somewhere nice when they die are less likely to take risks that could end in death.

On paper, most religions disaprove of suicidal behaviour.

True; nobles marry whoever the hell they like. Or even multiple consorts. (I forget which thread it was, but I recall it's in the Bug Reports forum.)

This is a fox skull helmet. All craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality. It menaces with spikes of fox bone and is encircled with bands of fox leather. This item is haunted by the ghost of Alfador Angrorung the fox.

Don't think so. I don't believe in a single god for my part and I'm not completely panicked at the idea of dying. Either there's just Oblivion waiting for me (and then I don't care) or I think the more logic would be reincarnation (and I don't care neither).
I'm just afraid about getting bored   :)

Killed as in "nobody worshipping them anymore and just forgotten" or killed as "tricked into a mortal form followed by crossbow bolt to the head"?

I think he meant a Black and White god death (lack of followers), not a Dungeons and Dragons god death (immortal form -> mortal form -> death).

Pointing out a patently false and offensive comment is being anti-religious?

Actually, I'm kind of surprised the whole post hasn't gone down in flames with 20 pages off replies yet  :)

I think, if I read the books correctly in forgotten realms a god gets their power from their followers. Also has little to no power in areas of the realms that they have no followers in. No followers=death.

Anyway I can see followers of a god of war either having the entire world taken over or completely extinct by 1050.  Still, more modding is good.  Having gods around finally is good too.

Poor Armok won't be referenced immediately in story posts anymore.  Now people will look up their civ's god and post that...unless Armok is like...the god of gods or something.

AH! And so you would answer the ultimate question : on the eigth day, what the hell did you do?  :p

Well, I meant die, just so as to add a little more interactivity to the game. But the perspective of a fallen god would be kinda awesome, assuming he would still be  more powerful than a basic human and would like to stick a bolt in the face of the one who killed his believers.
Reminds me of Kratos somehow.

Toady has mentonioned (I vaguely recall) that there will be several planes of existance. Perhaps there could be a divine realm? In many mythologies the gods live a life of there own in the divine realm, plotting and warring.

That would also allow you to kill, and perhaps become, a god.

Don't worry Armok. You made all the possible DF worlds, how could someone not reference you in a story post.
