You dedicate a part of the mining shuttle to a quarantaine area. All in all, it's not that hard, as the ship has multiple airlocks, of which some are quite large. All you needed to do was to disable the controls on the inside of the airlock, and isolate it's airfilters from the rest of the lifesupport systems.

Upgrading the Cargo shuttle proves to be more problematic. Replacing it's weak armor would cost to much for your meager funds, but you do manage to buy a fuel siphon. It's slow and inefficient, but it will allow you to gather fuel from gasgiants and planets. It even comes with it's own solar pannels.

There's also some requests from the AI. Apparently it wants to get inside. Not an unreasonable request, considering the dangerous nature of the universe.

You still got 3 days before departure on the mission. Go do something fun on the station (Character actions are bolded and Italized. Normal actions bolded)

I have no compelling reason to not allow the insane AI into the ship.

if we are going to take the pirate vessel with us we need to a) get more fuel, b) put people on it.

we could do with repairing our jump capacitor if we are going to be doing long-risky jumps, could we canablize the primary jump capacitor of it to repair our damaged primary - probably more expensive in the long run, as atm we have 1 damaged, one working, and after the repair we would have ours working and nothing more.

actually, could we cannibalize the entire pirate ship, we could use the:
  • jump control com
  • ponents,
  • missiles and missile rack,
  • the MQ computing system for a combined backup / auxiliary booster calculation system (it looks like we are going to have a new AI move in)
  • Upgraded targetting Array: (+1 to targeting) and Passive sensor systems: Online (Sensors: 2) (seems we have neither)
  • A backup/secondary life support system.
  • The reactor core (we are always short on energy)
  • the engines - looking at how they got their engines overpowered to have good dodge so we can learn how to mod our engines that way, and for spare parts for our main engines/maneuvering thrusters.
  • armor - we always need more plating
  • structure comonents we *DON'T* want our hull to buckle the next time we have to maneuver hard
On top of that we save a fair bit of fuel, and we don't run around with 2 under-manned ships, instead have 1.
Finally, i don't think with our current resources we can come close to doing that much improvement to the Salvation in 3 days any other way.

--

WTB energy shield, trading hull of pirate ship for it. -- we're short on energy, but we don't always want all our lazers powered up, and we do have 8 reactors when full, so we'll have energy to spare later.

(ps, these are all suggestions, please let me know what you think of them)

Hell if I know.  Pretty humourous suggestion, but utterly useless in the case of roleplaying, if indeed the whole game world was one whole huge ass field of fruit.

I feel terrible about the idea of losing the pirate ship, but I have had the same thoughts myself about the fuel situation and both ships, the pirate just doesn't seem to be designed for long voyages. I support all of the above suggestions, but feel guilty for doing so.

Salvaging pirate ship was considered and rejected before

I somewhat against it, now. It's just too late

a) we spent money and effort to upgrade it and create those megarailgun for it
b) We'll need it for loot, 1500 cargo space is not bad to have
c) It has ability to strike large targets
d) Our targeting and sensors are better
e) It's armor is inferior, too. Doubling the thickness of our armor will hurt effectiveness and mess with design
f) three days is likely not enough for major structural rework of Salvation

I'd rather sell it than salvage
She is a nice ship in a ideal condition and by scraping her  we'll turn useful components into a scrap...

We can use money to buy more fuel and food and fix our own jumpcapictors and do whatever else with money

Aart Bluestoke (a scientist; currently broke because of gambling problems) has seen the new arrivals, and is looking for a piece of history, with a chance to discover something. As he doesn't know the salvation has signed on, He has posted a message expressing his interest to travel to the commander of the expedition, who then CC'd it to the other ships.
I will be wandering around between the local pub, and the side room of a shuttle repair and hardware store where I have been working for the last few months, making a living repairing, and "improving" various pieces of energetic technology.

Shia walks into a small station bar. All bulkheads and plastic, the only wooden part is the actual bar counter itself, heavily varnished and pocked with scars. "One uh... House special. This isn't one of those synthesized alcohol joints is it?" She asks the tender while surveying her surroundings. The bar seems crowded (even for a port bar) but slow, as if this were more of a meeting place than a bar. Shia turns her eyes away from the chatting crowd and returned to the tender pouring a drink.

I prefer the term "malfunctional" rather than "insane." ;D

Diana spent her time around the docks  looking for a potential bidders for the mining ship and learning about the just price for ship like that, She wasn't sure that other members would want to sell the trophy, but hoped that if price is right everyone will agree to offload the ship she disliked

" Look" She said to some young rich kid that dreamed about the space " Not only this ship has powerful reactor, jumpdrive,  boosted engines, targeting system, kickass gun modified by great engineers and missile rack with  but it comes with ten deadly explosive missiles.  wielded slugs for masterfully ammo and ten emergency spacesuits for the future crew. That's not like all that old damaged junk that others sell! You just need to buy, hire some crew and you can fly whenever you want!

(I want to offload 10 cheap suits we have... Nice time to sell off some junk)

Domas wanders arround the station, looking at what there is before ducking into a small hole-in-the-wall bar.
