Climbing object surfaces
« on: February 15, 2013, 06:03:27 pm »

How great would it be if in addition to walls and branches, objects could be grasped and climbed with? Statues, grates and all their ilk, used by invaders, adventurers and Dwarves alike to reach otherwise unreachable heights, or in the case of accidentally finding oneself on top of a door/statue, actually getting down.

It gets better with things like GCS webs, which can stay supported in the air.

The Fun to be had when you find a rare GCS lair!

Because as it stands it doesn't really seem right that spiders can't climb their own webs, and the situation where a Dwarf charges a web, mangles it and causes the spider and themself to plummet to the ground is currently not achievable. Being able to grasp objects for climbing would also provide a good basis for ladders and ropes!

This seems like something that is planned, but not specifically stated. I tremble in fear, and anticipation, at the thought of GCS dropping down on my dwarves from above though.
