Resting on the chair, Alexavius finished sipping the tea and poured another cup, repeating the same process he always did and testing the liquid before drinking it.

"Venarius should act composed." he said. Even if the seneschal wasn't a specialist in the customs of the Adeptus, Venarius was recognizable as somewhat different from the common techpriests.

"Miss Toskhain I would like to request leave to remain here, and carry out my inspection, or at the very least for a temporary leave to do a quick recruitment from the pious among the population on this planet. That should increase our on board forces greatly, and will make my task of ensuring the planets in this system still remain loyal to the Emperor easier."

Wulfric said after he gave a quick glare at Harmann for his words when the man's back was turned, he was a priest, even more importantly he was a Missionary capable of cleansing heretics of the world and the man had refused. Ignoring that fact Wulfric calmed himself, it was understandable that his orders would not be carried out without the Rogue Trader's orders, but still ...

A look of annoyance flashed across Ferran's face as Wulfric ran roughshod over the conversation, but she quickly suppressed it. Yes, the man was an annoyingly pious zealot, but without those around where would humanity draw the line? Much further away than she was comfortable, that's for sure. "Yes, Wulfric, you are correct that ensuring the planet is clear of taint is necessary. We will plan on departing in a week's time. During that time you and anyone else who wants to may visit the planet surface. However, I expect you to never be anywhere alone for reasons that should be obvious." She turned to Venarius. "Venarius, the marines are having some trouble with the resident tech-priests not allowing them access to their areas. We need to be sure that all areas of the station are secure, so if you would speak with your brother adepts on our behalf, I would appreciate it. But don't push them too hard. I'd rather not annoy a valuable ally." With a final glance at Alexavius to make sure she hadn't missed anything she moved her attention back to Harmann. This is so much easier with a bit of amasec in my system! I must make sure to get the ship properly provisioned before leaving here.

The amusement was gone from Venarius's voice.

As you wish Captain, although if you allow i'd first get the proper clothing of an Tech-Adept from my Quarters, my former brethren- i mean my brethren react a bit irritated at such fine points.

Oh frak it all. I've gone and upset Venarius, Ferran berated herself. Still, no sense in trying to fix this at the dinner table. It would only make her look weak willed. At least that's what she thought Alexavius would say. "Of course, do as you see fit. I don't claim to know the finer points of Tech-Adept culture." She smiled, though it felt a bit weak to her. Maybe the amasec was helping less than she had thought it was.

"Tried to warn you, Venarius is a stranger to the cult now." Alexavius whispered to his micro-bead, communicating only with Ferran.

"Amasec will help you less than you think, and hinder more than necessary."

Ferran stood up abruptly, chair scraping noisily away from the table. "Sir Harmann, I'm afraid I'm not feeling terribly well. Something in the food must not be agreeing with me. I'll be retiring to my quarters aboard the Aether Hound. Please have all information on my cousin transmitted to me as soon as possible. Perhaps we can continue this in the morning?" Scarcely waiting for Harmann to acknowledge her she turned, gestured at Alexavius to follow her and swept out of the room. I've got to get better at this. I can't continue on, hoping I'm doing the right thing and praying Alexavius will correct me if I'm wrong. She paused outside of the room waiting for Alexavius to join her.

Alexavius leisurely stod up and performed a short bow before calmly making his way out of the room, meeting up with Ferran.

"How did you like your business meeting?" he asked with a mischievous smile. The seneschal had seen worse performances by other first-timers. At least Ferran hadn't gotten herself shot at.

"That was awful! I felt like I was about to throw up! Please tell me I didn't do to horribly." She started walking in the direction of the ship. "I think I need to start taking lessons on proper protocol for dealing with stuffy old men and their antiquated ideas. Will you teach me?" Ferran didn't particularly want to be in the debt of Alexavius, but she was desperate to improve her abilities.

"I'd be most happy to oblige." Alexavius answered as he walked by Ferran's side, his boots making little sound as they hit the floor.

"As for your performance, I have seen far worse. Researching if the planet has small customs at the table and in meetings that differ from the norm could also be productive, although I'm fairly sure abrutly leaving without paying due respect to the host then making comments on how their food may be the cause is rude through the whole Imperium."

The seneschal was having a good measure of fun with the whole thing, needless to say.

Ferran's face rose and then fell as her seneschal spoke. "Oh for the love of the Emperor! I probably couldn't make things any worse at this point, could I? What would you suggest at this point? Is there any hope at salvaging the situation?" She desperately hoped that the other members of her staff were making up for her lack of manners at the dinner table. Still, as a licensed rogue trader, surely they expected some oddness from her. She spoke that thought aloud to Alexavius. "I mean, it's not as though I would have had experience at being a planetary governor before, right?"

Governor's Station

Harmann is surprised at Ferran's sudden departure but takes it graciously, offering to send the station's medicae to check on her if needed along with the usual platitudes. He promises to prepare a succinct data packet on the cousin's whereabouts and crimes and the communiques from other worlds he mentioned. A few minutes later Ferran and her crew have left the dinner behind and are making their way back to the Hound. The marine captain acknowledges this and gathers a cadre of men to guard the crew's exit. After some negotiations, he decides to leave some of his men onboard to keep their eye on the station staff. The rest file in behind the officers as they make their way back to the ship.

The next morning, Ferran finds the promised data waiting in the ship's cogitator databanks, while Venarius gathers his old robes in distaste and gets into contact with the marines to give him directions.

Out in his chambers, Alexavius receives a message from his henchmen... they've found what he was looking for. Her name is Salla, and she's an assistant gunnery overseer at one of the macrocannons. They've gathered information discreetly about her - loss of her old ship and crew, an outsider as an Olandisian when most of her co-crew at the gun are veterans, spending most of her time alone, and, conveniently, extremely loyal to her captain and superiors.

"Contact me when you find some time for our private lessons to start." he sent through the micro-bead to Ferran, sitting inside his quarters and reading on the reports.

Alexavius smiled in the same way many people had seen him do when he struck a good deal and didn't mind showing it. There were times when the seneschal wondered if he did those things out of need or simply because it felt nice to be a bastard. Every time, he got to the conclusion both reasons drove him.

In the end, he could do her good; she was in need of good company, and he could fill that gap with ease. All he wanted was to have people to fall back on in case of need, and in return, he would provide her with what she wanted. A fair deal in an universe such as theirs.

Get in Salla's good side.

Ferran woke up in the morning, head surprisingly clear. She could feel the absence of alcohol in her system and she was struck by a rather dire though. Have I lost my head for drink? Oh Throne! She shook her head and climbed out of bed, noting the message waiting on her system. She'd get to it later. For now she needed to check on the progress of Venarius and make amends for her behavior. Now, where was Alexavius?

Contact Harmann and make amends. Spend the day with the nobility trying to gain their graces. If Alexavius is available, rope him in to helping.
