Fikes Hi again.

I kind of figured that my complaints were "we haven't had time for that" type issues rather than "We didn't think of that!" For instance it would be nice to click on a rock and have it tell you how much stone it had. I am sure that is coming soon.

Ya, and some different sprites to show the stages of depletion.

I guess right now it is a little hard to tell exactly what the goal of the game is. Are you eventually going to be able to do research or advance your civilization or is it more like a tower defense with a little management thrown in?

Finally, I am not really sure at all what the other play would be doing if we were playing co-op. I was not busy enough to need help.

Let me try to answer both these at once. The full game will have a mission based campaign to complete together and the goals and gameplay will not be the same as in this pre-alpha demo. The current stuff could work like a tutorial to the game but the other missions will not be this passive "Build until ready, press ready button" kind of thing but rather a lot more stuff going on and a lot more options to stay busy / improve the village. :)

Do you intend to implement a map builder?

If that's what people want I think we might be able to whip something together.
We definitely want to develop the game together with the community and make it the best game it can be together.

Is there a singleplayer mode or is this purely co-op?

lordcooper hi, the current plan is to make everything doable in sp as well. Just that you have to do it all yourself. This could change however.

greatorder thanks. :)

Their crowd-funding campaign failed, but they *have* been greenlit on Steam.
However the last update was on August 15th.

Sorry for the slow response and unfortunately I have bad news. :(
We have put the project and company on indefinite hold.

I'll post a short summary I just put up on facebook here as well in case anyone is interested.

Hi everyone, we wanted to give you all an update on what we have been up to. Unfortunately it's a bit of bad news. We have decided to stop work on Northward, at least for now. During the fall we talked to publishers and looked closely at where we wanted to go with the game and after that we were a bit torn. We wanted to make some fairly big changes to the game that we felt would make it a lot better but those changes would also make it a lot harder / take a lot longer for us to make it. In the end we couldn’t really agree on where we should go next so we decided to stop work at the company. Therefore we go our separate ways for now but remain very close friends. Sorry for taking so long to tell you.

Lastly and most importantly we want to say a very big thank you to you all for coming on this adventure with us, we really had a lot of fun and it’s in very big part thanks to you!

Ps. And who knows, maybe we will come back to the company one day and finish the game, no promises though. smile emoticon Ds.
