« on: August 12, 2014, 02:06:09 am »

Hi everyone, long time Bay 12 fan and forum lurker but only now first time poster here. :)
Wanted to share the game me and my two friends have been working on!
Hoping it's something this crowd will like.

Northward A co-op management game in a nordic pixel-art setting.

If you wanna try it there is a free public pre-alpha demo available at the Indiegogo page:
https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/northward/

If you wanna see it in action check out this link to Christonian playing it
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ng71IXuKgIo

or a co-op session with Jerry the Penguin
http://youtu.be/oeqZQ_-8FbQ

If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask!

And if you like what you see we are really grateful for Greenlight votes. :)

And lastly, I really appreciate feedback. So please post all your ideas and feedback for the game. :)

A lot of people will say "It's not fair to be a new account made to push a game" but this looks like exactly the sort of reason the Other Games section exists.  I am interested and the basics look great here.

It seems fairly interesting, will probably check out the demo when I have access to my laptop again.

I totally understand if people are critical of that. Unfortunately not much I can do about it at the moment.
Going around making a few posts before posting this one would in my eyes be even worse, better to be honest than try to hide the fact that I am new to the posting side of things.
So I just have to trust that people can see past it and accept a lurker turned poster like me. :P

And let's hope I can become a more active part of the community in the future eh?
I posted a little in other places and was planning on posting more freebies and game-dev information, so if anybody here is interested in making their own games I could probably post some stuff like my free fog of war stuff for 2d games in Unity among other things. :)

EDIT: Link

And hey thanks for the positive words!

Working on adding some tutorial stuff to make it less confusing at the start.
And a harder challenge at the end. :D

As another developer who is native to these boards, I wish you welcome. Northward looks great, and I can't wait to see how it pans out. Do you intend on commercially releasing at the end, or is this a more of a demo project for your up and coming studio?

On a personal note, I am always looking to hire talent. If you have any experienced friends who are looking for work I can use a community manager/forum manager ASAP and I can use a Unity 2D wizard for a large project starting in 2 months. In the meantime, feel free to check out my current game set to release sometime next month, unless another delay hits. www.Facebook.com/ArmsDealerTheGame  or www.ArmsDealerGame.com

BTW- I voted for you on Greenlight!

Those gifs (well, the worker critters) are... very warcraft. The first one, ha. Not a bad thing, but it did pretty immediately jump out at me.

These graphics are very sexy. I'll have to try it out just because it looks so good.

Reminds me of Knights and Mechants... a LOT right down to the towers using ammo.
in fact it almost seems to be a modern retro styled pixelart remake of it.

Seems pretty neat all in all.

Sonlirain I've heard of it but not played it myself. I thought K&M was more of a classical rts with armies you run around the map killing each other?

I would compare us more to settlers meets tower defense with a dose of transport tycoon (this part is not really implemented yet however) thrown in for good measure mixed up in a co-op adventure. :D

Have built a little list of games I'm gonna play as soon as I get some time over though and K&M is on it. :)
Along with beasts and bumpkins and a few others. There are quite a few of the "settlers style" strategy/management games or what you'd call them after all.
