I immagine plump helmets as a mushroom with a mushroomy texture and a taste of grapes. After all, grapes make wine as plump helmets do.

Well, they're purple, make wine, plump, are eaten raw... But they're mushrooms. I imagine them to be grape tasting, have the indescribable texture of a mushroom, and slightly juicy.
