« on: August 14, 2011, 12:48:36 am »

i have a dwarf in a strange mood, and he has assembled 45 quartzite, 10 marble, wool, a few logs and 4 gems, is this a glitch or is it gonna be an epic construction?

Probably both. It sounds like a case of the Planepacked bug, where the things your dwarf goes to get are continuously reset, but it will eventually produce an artifact.

Was that a picture of a cyclops beating a dwarf with mule leather trousers?

My bet is that your dwarf was assigned to a burrow that didn't contain the workshop he claimed. It is the usual cause of this bug. Was it true in this case?

Yes... There, just between the three shining suns and Mörul.

And slightly above the barrels filled with rendered fat...

Yes it was, and he was depicted earlier in the artifact sans trousers.  Which means he must have depantsed someone, most likely the same dwarf, and killed him with his own pants.

Dwarf Fortress: The only game where an Artificial Intelligence -controlled unit can pull the pants off someone and the proceed to beat said someone to death with said pants.

Of course, it is likely also the only game where ANYTHING can do it...

And this is why Dwarf Fortress is awsome.

The Queen's Crown of The Patterned Coal. I like the the Imagery of the God of Metals on the crown. It seems like she is a ruthless and unforgiving Goddess. Especially in light of the lack of metal apparently in the crown and the Laughter she exhibits. Well, except the copper.

Nope, it's a combination of the megaprojects people build and the bugs (talking to reanimated limbs? Shame Toady's fixing that before release...probably...). Stuff like Planepacked and its cousins, and monsters beating dwarves to death with clothes, just add a bit on top.
