on the 24th of limestone the merchants departed on thier way... Which was odd since i was pretty sure I killed them all.

So the FB forced an engraver and a recruit to dodge into the ore chute.


 Welp they're as good as dead.
 We can only hope they're among those who i've given a tomb. Oh did I mention? I've decided to build a Necropolis and give each dwarf a tomb. And the 3rd underground cavern is on fire.

The rest of autumn was terribly boring with only a death due to infection standing out. I'm trying to get the hospitol to be more efficient but for some reason nobody is making soap.

Our moody dwarf has made a Tower cap Weapon rack called Clearslips. It menaces with spike of white jade.

Finally. Finally we caught a cave spider. After 20 or so cave swallows and bats we Finally caught  spider. Bloody armok.

Spring Has sprung and I'm outta here. I made some magma workshops, gotta a lot a dwarfs killed, And Executed Spared Jack the decision maker from a magma bath. The Silk farm is almost readyjust get the door closed and finish hooking up the lever to the spider cage, then you can set the spider free and you should get a decent amoutn of silk from it as long a cat doesn't kill it.

From an Alternate Universe!

1st Granite, 17

The fool put me in charge of the Golden Lightnings!  With the help of the rest of the military, I organized a plot to seize power and save the fortress.  Pokey has been removed from his position, and I, Jack, reign again!  I have retaken my tomb, at last!  Time for some adamantine work.  Also, Pokey is to assist in mining.  Again.  This time, the magma adamantine vein shall be checked out.  Also, new strand extractors have been assigned, due to previous overseers getting all of them killed.

13th Granite, 17

We've overfished the river, and are recieving reports of nothing to catch.

17th Granite, 17

Good news.  One of our beekeepers has been taken by this odd mood, somewhat like that of a fey.  This is going to be awesome, based on previous events like this.  He's taken over a jeweler's workshop.

22nd Granite, 17

Beekeeper made uninteresting garbage.  Worth money, but nobody really cares.  Still got adamantine to work on...

7th Slate, 17

THE KING IS HERE!  THE KING IS HERE!
Well, queen, technically, but that doesn't matter.  She has come with a legendary marksdwarf, some idiot, two kids, another idiot, a legendary swordsdwarf and macedwarf...basically, good soldiers and replacement miners.

Of course, I refuse to give the queen all that stuff she wants.  Around here, she's just another dwarf, charging into a fort she hasn't ruled for many years.

Ergo, I have given her her own squad, the Mechanical Targets ((OOC note: that was the real random name)).  Name fits well.  Quite well...

10th Slate, 17

In a completely unexplainable freak accident, the Queen managed to get skewered by the merchantkiller spear system.  While stumbling away, bleeding badly, another freak accident occured as she triggered one of the cage traps, getting caught.

12th Slate, 17

The New Adamantine Age has started!  The volcanic vein is being dug out!

13th Slate, 17

...Time for a slight change of plans, I think.

16th Slate, 17

The army is fighting bravely against the demons swarming into our fortress, but we're losing soldiers.  As a side note, I am keeping the queen caged in my tomb.  Just because I can.

20th Slate, 17

Because everybody refused to plug the demonic entrance, we're fighting a losing battle.  Many qualified builders decided to haul stone.  They are bringing us down to destruction.  They're dragging us to Hell.

Just like the demons.  And Pokey.

26th Slate, 17

Well, they killed Yagor.  Time to abandon the fortress.

I was expecting many bad things to happen in your turn. This was not one of them.
Also, hooray for alternate universes!

One more side note, and I probably should've mentioned this before:
The only time you may savescum is if the fortress is destroyed by the demons. If it goes down any other way, then it's done for good.

if fps is a problem, you could start dumping stuff into the magma.

A better idea: Put everyone into the military move them away to a safe place and then flood everything with magma. Boom. Fresh start.
