I don't recall anyone named being struck down, although I think you might've gotten a torn lower body.

Late Winter
We have suffered for too long.
Our wounded fill up our hospitals.

Our brave die needlessly.

Therefore, I have created what can only be considered the solution to all dwarven problems

It is time

to pull the lever

Yesssss MAGMA
So My disaster of a pump stack which claimed many lives actualy got completed. Out of curiosity how did you find the 90 degree turn to avoid the lake? Was it too cumbersome?

The 90 degree turn was actually one of the easier to tackle problems I encountered.
The real difficulty was when someone messed up the digging part somewhere in the middle of the pumpstack and had the pump stack holes facing the wrong direction for the rest of the way up.
That was a real nightmare to fix

This is the picture of some of the schematics of the 90 degree turn part.

Note" the gear assemblies extend underneath the pump.

I used all magma proof gear assemblies in the rare case that there might be a magma leak or some magma creature breaking down the door.

edit: going to need several more hours to get this done, since my computer is officially down in an fps coma (too many fluid calculations)

edit: is it grammatically correct to say "a fps coma" or "an fps coma"?

Well, if you just say the letters 'FPS' then it'd be 'an', but if you pronounce the full 'frames per second' it'd be 'a'. :P
Also, awesome work. I've never managed to get pumps and such working.

Early Spring

It has been an eventful year indeed.

3 goblin sieges and a goblin ambush.
Dozens dead, but nothing grave or severe.
And most important of all,
We now have surface Magma

(yes that's a river at the bottom left)

I've never really wrote anything about the last goblin siege since compared to the second one during fall, it was rather pitiful, but it did leave behind a few prisoners that we still have to take care of.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
(in the picture lies the many corpses of goblins as well as two still somewhat alive goblin swordsmen and a goblin lasher)

But that shouldn't be too difficult to take care of.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

All we need to do is just to dump in a few roomfuls of goblin cleanser.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

They may run...
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

But they can't hide
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Nothing beats the lovely smell of roast goblin in the morning
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

And there you have it, a perfect pit for cooking our prisoners in.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Building the magma pump has been quite a strenuous task for me, so I'll just resign my position as overseer (although I would still like to keep my noble position) and retire wealthy and lazy.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

P.S a note for future overseers. There's a slight flaw in the designs of the magma pump which has resulted in part of the magma-pump breaking down once I've turned it off.
I've noted the location where the flaw occurred as well as giving a few basic instructions on how to get the thing working again, so until someone else manages to fix it, it would be wise to be a bit more frugal in our consumption of magma.
Pic included

edit: I also forgot to thank whoever went through the trouble of designing that 7k urist riverside powersource. Certainly saved me a lot of work with a ready built power generator at hand.

Next Save here.

Varnifane made that ridonkulous power supply, may he rest in peace.
Also I'll pick up the save and give my first update in a bit.

-edit I was looking over the titles of former overseers and they all have things like Keeper of the records or decision smith or Noble, Or at very least something basic like "woodsmith". Except for me who has the honor of be an Ex-tyrant/Traitor. I seriously laughed when i saw that.

And fix my tomb.  Make sure all statues, especially the adamantine one, are placed.  Make sure my tomb is placed.  Beat up the troll.

Also, I'm amazed by how little attention that adamantine is getting.

I (sorta) repaired your Tomb. I don't know where your coffin went or where you had you cabinets and statues so I just put them in the room at the right. I added in two Masterwork weapon traps filled with the best weapons i could find, Adamantine spears masterwork steel, and an artifact crossbow.

Also It's no longer you tomb. It's going to someone much more deserving.

TRAITOR!

Right there in the title.

Your tomb is going to a legendary Macelord, Who named his silver mace "the friendly Cloak."
If you want to argue about who goes where after dying Take it up with Endok Fishbolted the balanced age. We MIGHT give you a nice funeral. But no matter how nice the tomb you're still going to be missing most of your brains.

Spring of the 16th year, CeilingChew

Well I'm Back, I've clawed my way back to the top position over the corpses of a dozen dead miners And now i'm in charge. Traitor I'll Show the traitors. I'll show all Those traitors. First I think we need more Iron, so i'll Designate some hematite to be mined, and we'll melt down some of this goblinite.

Crap. I pulled the wrong lever. Well at least we can make some nice obsidion chairs. Time to start diggin out my mistake.

I've decided the best way to get back at the previous overseers who branded me "traitor", Ecspecialy that horrible Noodle person, Is to go through their kids. Yes They will know so much sorrow for their misdeed against me.

and it just wanders around in the underground sea turning water to steam and Fckuing up my FPS.

A dwarven child has gone fey, If we get a good artifact I might spare him the training pit. maybe
An artifact crossbow. Nope. Not good enough. TO the pits with you child may you never see light till your 13th year.

summer has come.
