The roots are currently hollow, since unlike megadorf I could build them from the outside. As a fun side note the roots are very porous, the diagonals are only sealed with ramps so dwarves just run right through them.

In that case, you should build a fortress inside of them.

What sick man would complete such a massive construction and NOT live inside it?

Much like megadorf the fortress will be inside the tree, but I'm not relocating until I start on the trunk.

Your elven traders must either

a) Approach and immediately claw their eyes out in horror

b) Approach you in ambush

c) Revere you as gods

I like option (a) best.

What does everyone else think?

Eagerly awaiting more sexy stonesense pics.

@Jachim: I prefer option d) See the Mothertree from afar and approach, sparkling eyed, before realizing it was constructed of butchered remains. After this they simply fall dead.

bonus points for leaving channels throughout the roots, trunk and leaves then filling them with water to simulate a living circulatory system..

They're nearly as bad as badgers. Build a couple of anti-buzzard SAM sites marksdwarf towers and your fortress will look like Baghdad in 2003 from all the aerial bolt spam. You waste a lot of ammo and everything is covered in unslightly exploded buzzard bits and broken bolts.

Do it with Vanilla DF.
- Siege on
- No custom reactions

Plant a farm of tree farms.
Then it will be meaningfull.
To me at least.

It's the little things in life... :D

That would be feasible if it wouldn't take a thousand game years to get all the trees needed. Or if you could make aboveground tree farms (what with all the underground trees being so colorful and all that stuff).
