Stupidly large tree megaproject

*latest changes*
Root construction is underway, learning experiences are being had, and some gaps that are not apparent in the top down view have been found. Here is a portion of what is finished, I would post more but I am having trouble convincing stonesense to save a picture of the whole map. Any suggestions as to how to make the "screenshot whole fortress" button render the terrain before it captures instead of just capturing the backdrop would be appreciated.

I have embarked on a project to build a 100z level fortress in the shape of giant tree entirely out of wood. I plan on a full root structure and fractal branch structure. I have some ideas for nice final touches involving water and leaves. Here is a basic outline of the root structure and another version with a drawn outline so it's easier to see.

I estimate over 100k wood will be needed and I've given up on tree farms for this and had to cheat a smelter reaction.

I imagine You're far closer to being 'doomed' than I was when I decided to make a giant tree a quarter as large at the base. :o of course I refused to cheat in any way...

Don't give in to boredom! Nothing can fell a tree that large! Except, you know, the laws of physics, or your common forest fire, or... dwarves.

Grow trees in muddied cast obsidian on top of it! DO IT!

It's hardly elven; it's BUILT from wood, not grown, and using practically slave labor. Expect to be besieged by elves for your horrendous perversion of nature!

Bonus points if you can set if on fire with magma and then fire branches at attackers.

Hold the leaves on the tree by supports, then simulate autumn when enemies arrive?

From the maker of Mega-Dwarf, comes the Mega-Tree. Mega-Dwarf needed some mega wood to cut so he can make his mega versions of the three B's.

Glass serrated discs, then. This sounds like Fun. Best of all, after he deforests the land and desertification occurs, he has lots of glass. Go, reincarnation of Cacame, go!
