There's nothing quite so satisfying as watching a newbie learning the difference between dwarf and !dwarf!
There's nothing quite as satisfying as watching a "veteran" miss the difference between a !dwarf! and a !!dwarf!!

oops  :P

There's nothing quite as satisfying as catching elves in cage traps and then letting them starve to death in your dining hall while they watch your dwarves eat.

There is nothing as satisfying as realising that with the combined use of your latest mods you can make a elf meat tower.

Except perhaps for dropping prisoners from said tower.

What I did was build a Space Elevator (1x1 stairway) straight up into the sky until I hit top (+25 in my mountain fort). Then I built a platform of floors there in a diamond shape (fastest way to expand it) and then made a stockpile on that that only accepted rock blocks that drew from the rock block stockpile deep in the fortress. From that I constructed an Assault Boom of floor tiles as narrow as possible from the platform to directly over the beast's location. Then I built various wall and floor sections trying to be able to deconstruct a single floor to launch the payload down onto the beast to destroy it.

It's settled, my next fort will have an orbital bombardment platform.

I was thinking about making an enormous grid of sky-aqueducts capable of dropping magma almost anywhere on the map, but this is much simpler and more practical.

Nothing quite as satisfying as being attacked by an immortal megabeast and then having him get trapped between nascent mushroom trees deep in the underground between two narrow rock pillars. And then defeating him by dropping a section of flooring down between the two pillars from 20 or more z-levels above. Even more satisfying when that floor tile has standing upon it a ☼Native Gold Statue of Horses☼. And then realizing the beast was not killed, only disgustingly mutilated and maimed. And then doing it again, with a statue of Donkeys, for the kill.
