Beautiful permit chart. Well, all of them really.

Ooh, different icons for different plants. Very nice legend.

By now, there's things to drink and plants to eat. Fortress is self-sustaining!

Till a wereasslasher comes, of course :v

It's still the 1st month.  I'm leaning to do:
9. Farm Plant (for food)
So maybe this is a save point.

However, since I started the beds, and furnitures, I want private bedrooms for the founders, Dine Hall / Meeting Room - Citizen only Tavern.
And go over nobles, at least Manager so I can showcase Make Barrels and Make Drinks work orders.
And probably a save point here.

Then focus on changing to: 1 carpenter, 1 farmer/brewer, 1 master mason, 1 forge, 3 mason for blocks/constructions:
7x7 above ground building, 2z tall + roof;
10 shared bedrooms (prepare for summer migrants)
Forge for wood burner, and smelt iron bars.  Use QSP for ores, flux, fuel, and bars, maybe?

Nice for complete newcomers.  Very precise on how to do things.  Once you get farther in I expect it will get into things players with a bit more experience might pick up some tricks from.

Keep it up.

Manager doesn't approve of orders below 20 dwarves, so that's a no in first month.

Going for hard industries second, I guess.

The tasks quickly branches out fast if I don't stop and wait for stuff to be completed.

When I set the mason to build 7 rutile doors, coffers, and cabinets now--it takes a bit longer, so I have a bunch of No Jobs.

I have the Carpenter to make bed, barrel, bucket on repeat that barrel became a bottle neck, so the herbalist/grower/brewer has no Job since I limit which plants to get, and did not want to start farming until I have seeds from the brewing.

A bit inefficient, but it has to be done this way so I can document things step by step; otherwise it will not reflect on the next save.

So, with the 4 dwarf with No Jobs, I went ahead and place the beds and whatever rutile stuff are made.  I'm so tempted to wait for at least (superior quality) *beds* for the first 7 (which I eventually did after making 10 more beds planning ahead for the shared bedrooms).

Anyway, this got me thinking of making a tavern so the idlers can start socializing and hook up sooner, freeing some rooms as a side effect.  I did not check their orientation / willing to marry.

Anyway, placing beds has "3 options" and it is quite a challenge to come up with an image presentation.  Placing doors, containers (coffers) and cabinets seems like an afterthought but they to have the same options.

Sorry, rambling now.  I end up staying late last night watching late night twitch DF by 2 new DF players.  I gained a little insight on what confuses them--but typing in chat with delay is like simulating communication with someone in Mars or the Moon, hehe.

I messed up somewhere in my save. I though I had a couple of brewing jobs after making 3 barrels, and tables/chairs on suspend after making the bedrooms.

So I let the game run while everyone is idle and they start socializing in the tavern.  I forgot to set drink and prepared meals stockpile.

I was fascinated when someone recite a masterful poetry and wondering why no one claimed bedrooms.
The make bedrooms portion was not saved.

I understand the hate of "No job", though a tavern to socialize in with visitors indeed makes it a bit more tenable via the power of friendship.

Don't think beds are freed up after the marriage, tho.

Shame about save confusion.

When I toyed with Deathgame, it was the first time I actually really toyed with possession furniture. I learned that dwarves will store stuff in cabinets, not in bag/coffer.

Why you're placing the furniture would be useful to know.

Cabinets store clothing, and I think since dwarfs can claim trinkets, they use coffers for that if they ever let it go / replace, maybe?
I know before, coffers were useless.

I'll play around with this save and see if they store things to help confirm.

Then find an earlier save and figure out what I need to redo to catch up.

Keep it up, this is already a ☼tutorial☼ and gets better every day! This should probably be stickied once it's complete, or linked to on the wiki.
