Introduction

The world is known “Enramul,” The Legendary Planes, has eight existing civilizations currently in the 125 years of written history.  This is a story of the dwarven civilization of The Mythical Urn

The First Queen
The first queen reigned in times of peace and attained her goals of mastering skills.  The late queen Erush Vaultfair was a great wrestler, great thrower, and competent swordsdwarf.  Queen Erush did not have any heir when she died of old age in the year 102.

The Regning Queen
Eral Rampartdikes succeeded the throne then became the current queen of The Mythical Urn.  She is a wood cutter and have dreams of starting a family, and this dream has been achieved, albeit, in the path of tragedy.

Queen Eral is a bard from the mountain halls, Snarlgirders.  She is a great consoler, great musician, professional comedian and professional pacifier.  She authored her first musical composition in year 59, after a nightmare

She married Kogsak Tomesparted in year 60 and they have had 11 children:
  • Ezum Cityreward, male child, born 67, (struck by the moon woman Asen Obeyedship in 69
  • Fikod Submergesteel, female child, born 69 (devoured by polar bear in year 77)

Prelude

It’s been over eight decades since an outpost for the The Mythical Urn has been establish. When Aban Splashaxes turned the age of 60, he requested the nobles' permission to establish a tavern out there in the lands of Enramul.

Aban’s request has been granted for a site in The Invisible Jungles, a temperate conifer forest in the middle of the Queendom's territory.
Spoiler: World Map, Biome (click to show/hide)

The chosen site also boasts plenty of neighbors, including two mysterious towers.
Spoiler: Region & Local Maps (click to show/hide)

The outpost will be named Teachfortress and the founders name their group, ‘The Pointy Way’:

’Cmdr’ Momuz Urncelings, ‘The Commander’ can handle stress yet he actively avoids excitement or stressful situations.  He does dream of raising a family someday.

’Mech’ Vucar Bridgedomens, ‘The Admin’ is in a constant internal rage yet is often cheerful and curious and eager to learn.  He values martial prowess and dreams of mastering a skill.

’Hammer’ Tulon Lashdanger, ‘The Carpenter’ is stubborn and thoroughly disgusted by cooperation.  He also can handle stress and dreams of mastering a skill.

‘Herb’ Aban Splashaxes, ‘The Brewer’ is trusting and likes to brawl which is should be easy to find in taverns.  He dreams of creating a great work of art.

’Miner’ Zas Paddleswarf, ‘The Forge’ is a friendly individual yet can be considered rude.  She values martial prowess yet finds the pursuit of skill mastery off-putting.  She dreams of creating a great work of art.

’Miner’ Limul Shipbraids, ‘The Cook’ is often sad and dejected, but also often cheerful.  He values hard work and finds friendship burdensome while dreaming of raising a family someday.

’Miner’ Erush Netknew, ‘The Mason’ is bashful and has a calm demeanor.  He finds merrymaking and partying worthwhile activities.

Hm, how much to say....
1. Legends viewer could probably use a link to it (1.17 unofficial). As could use Phoebus use an installation guide link. (Not sure about your target audience, tbh.)

2. That update's blue text could be a little brighter: 0077ff

3. "good" meat? Goat meat, you mean?

Good diagrams, I must say.

PTW.
Why assign architect to all dwarves? I usually assign it to the jeweler, as he doesn't have a time consuming job (at least not at the beginning).
I agree that the blue text should be brighter

I've thought of the Legend's Viewer and Tileset Installs; but I felt that I was taking longer to get the actual embark going.
I even had notes on the embark skills and items and some discussions on dwarf traits and stats.
So, I think a solution for me would be to start with a world gen save, then go this route of with some detail, and the starting 7 I got for this fort.
The next save upload will have the basic self-sufficient setup for the first 7 and looking forward to some migrants up to 20 pop.

I'll edit that blue code.  And yeah, it's goat meat.  I just pick the cheapest meat, should have been 20 total, but buzzard was not available but 15 is good enough.

Re: Architect.
I usually give it all to those with dreams of art the architect labor; but in this case,  I do not like waiting for the few architect to get the temp workshops done.

As much as I want to do one thing at a time, I tend to do more things in parallel. Minimal hauling, more micro, specific count of items made.

Thanks

One of the biggest challenges for me initially reading about DF was not knowing what tile is what. Graphics pack help with this, but further help was gained by going over boatmurdered's introduction guide.

Ex: But what is the gray wavy stuff? (Snow here, white sand other times, living-hurting rain in Sinister/Haunted/Terrifying biome)

That's...really good, I wish I had that when even just reading the lets plays. Definitely makes me lean to consider phoebus tileset first if/when I change up from vanilla ascii.

Though you sure the "Ruin" isn't "Tomb" in the 2nd image, with the goblet tile ¶ being elf site and crown tile µ being ruin?

Do tombs show in the map?

I know of "show caves" as option in the world gen parameter.

Ruins for lack of better word seems to be abandoned forts.

I'm not sure on the crowns.  I thought they were larger city types / mountain home / capital perhaps?

Yeah, they do. Seen them myself, they're always built right next to a human site. Caves use dug-out stone icon by default and can congregate lairs around them, both of which prevent placement of sites.

µ icon refers to ruins and crowns in ascii, but checking because this might be different in Phoebus. They also have colour corresponding to parent civ. Though I believe hamlets become browned out rather than changing the icon (however, goblin civ greying out has different reason: infighting). The larger site types reference market + typically larger population; dwarven mountain halls are dark gray in the middle of the mountains. Outside of initial (dark) fortress placement, no market can be built within 7 tile radius of an existing market, though as you can see in the second linked image that doesn't mean they'll go for minimum distance - could also be near maximum, really.

You get better descriptions of sites hovering over them when it has finished world gen for you to decide to accept. If it is still belonging to civ, it says things like "dwarven fortress of <>", while otherwise it is just "fortress of <>". (Usually of a FB because Moria dwarves. This is actually how I quickly determine if any wars or rampages have occurred.)
