Doubling gear
« on: August 03, 2008, 06:52:47 pm »

I remember you used to be able to wear like 4 shields and get a lot of benefits from them, but, does that kind of stuff work anymore?

I'm wearing 2 coats of chainmail and have a couple shields in my left hand, am I just wasting weight or do they stack?

They do stack. Got legendary shield handling by laying down to a cyclops.

There's an innate problem with stacking gear in this game, especially in terms of shields where you can stack an infinite number.

If you play adventurer a lot of the same world and you stack shields on each one, and you're the kind of guy who enjoys fighting ex-adventurers for kicks, you're going to run into a cold war scenario. i.e: the guy with the most shields wins. So you'll inadvertedly make new adventurers with even more shields and forts just to make shields etc etc.

It gets really retarded if you like to fight ex-adventurers.

Drop your extra shields before you retire?

At some point they stop being shields and and you end up with really coarse scale mail covering your arms.

Pick up a shield from the ground; if your hands are already full, it'll automatically go into your pack. Remove the shield from your pack, and it'll go into your hand.

Wow that really needs to be fixed

Is this possible to do in Dwarf Mode?

I don't think you can pick up multiple shields in Fortress Mode even if you're playing a modded race with ten [GRASP]s.

In fortress mode I have a champion weilding a sheild and an artifact puppy-leather buckler at the same time.

I've also seen a dwarf in Dwarf Mode having a buckler and a shield ... I believe I got that from setting him to equip a buckler first, and then after a while switching him to shields.
