Yeah, you're right. As a quasi-scholar of constitutional law, I'm seeing precedents written that effectively dissolve the 1st, 4th, 5th and 14th Amendments all the time. For an officer to search your car, not because there is probable cause that's demonstrative, but rather a "feeling" or premonition under "good faith" has effectively removed the right of the 4th to citizens. No longer can "probable cause" be required, all the officer needs is just "feeling." If you think that their swearing in, to protect the constitution of the United States is their imperative, you're mistaken, as not all of them have that virtuous intention above their own understanding of law and order.</STRONG>

Though I agree on some points, the car thing has less to do with the 4th amendment, and more to do with the definition of private property as they pertain to cars. Cars are driven on public roads, in the public, and the owner of said car is choosing to do this. Thus he waves his right of privacy as soon as he willingly leaves his driveway with a trunk full of dead hooker.

Oh my god! Americans wont be able to have guns in order to oppose an opresive goverment! Because a gun would really help you against the goverment, you can go to congress and shoot army/police/congressmen till the cows come home and have no effect the right to bear arms is a stupid one, if the goverment becomes too opresive all you need to do is stop paying taxes, if everyone started getting cash in hand and didnt pay their taxes the goverment would collapse ridiculously quickly.</STRONG>

The best I've heard the case for the second amendment put was someone who said, they agree with it completely... "Every American home should have a musket".

Beyond that bit... Yeah.  And people wonder why the fiancee and I would rather settle in the UK than the US.

Yeah, that's the Taft interpretation of the 4th. He argued that because it was a moving piece of property, that there was a compelling interest of the state to be able to intervene. Later jurists believed there was spheres in public where people had a "reasonable expectation of privacy" and that the 4th would apply. Let's be honest here, the framers didn't have phone booths, cars or consider the womb to have a protection of privacy.

Well any scholar who studied American history can easily shoot down the idea that the right to bare arms was in fact passed because it was the method in which the people could overthrow the gorvernment. Mostly because for many years the American government were trying to find ways to limit the power of the people.
-I was taught that it was for government overthrowing government in one grade of school only to have it shot down later.

I think there are two current theories that seem acceptable
1) It was so there was a ready army against the British at all times
and
2) It was so that South and North could protect itself from landgrabs

NEXT EPISODE: The REAL cause of the American Civil War... Slavery not involved!?! WHOA!!!

Anyhow back to the topic at hand.

Most likely when the internet grab is done they are going to disguise it as internet protection. I think this because most people agree that the internet is far too anomynous (or however you spell that) as it is often to the point where it becomes a hub for crimes that would be unacceptable and instantly shut down if it wasn't such.

It's in December, and that's a misconception. Other Mayan calendars have been found that extend thousands of years past 2012. Of course that's not going to get in the way of people making a fuss about the date.

That's right, it doesn't end, but then again, the calender didn't end at any of the other Mayan "end of the world"s either.  For instance, it was most likely a self fulfulling prophecy that the last end of the world also marked the end of Mayan civilization.  To the Maya, the end of the world is simply the beginning of a new world, usually meaning that big changes are coming around, leaving the world unlike it used to be.

The mayan calender works in cycles of 510 years or so each, based on my limited understanding of the thing. Ithink that at the end of the current cycle, the next one will just start just like a new year starts after the previous one ends.

It's a calender, not a countdown...

So maybe 2012 is the date where the Mayans make a comeback.

I just hope it is more lost civilisation then undead hoard (Though Id think they would have completely decomposed by now... so would that make them Mudmen/dustmen?)

You're all wrong.  In 2012 The Mayan general Mabus will join forces with Cth--I mean me, to resurrect the Firstborn.

The net neutrality thing was a big movement a while back when congress was voting on it, but since then net neutrality has won. The bills that were seen to be dangerous to the internet's freedom were struck down.

I wouldn't worry about this. Net neutrality shall continue for a very long time yet.  :)

And the internet wasn't made for porn, just because something wasn't part of the original purpose for establishing something doesn't mean it can't be used for that.

I'm in no way condoning the violent overthrow of the US or any other governing body, mind you.

well the western calender ends every December 31st...

The Mayan calender repeats itself, just like ours does. The difference is the Mayan calender is set up to measure the wobble of the earth.

If anyone remembers that song "This is the dawning of the age of Aquarius," Western Calenders have the same scale to their calender too.  The Age of Pices is due to end soon, and the Age of Aquarius is next in line.

Many biblical stories are based on astrological ages, the old testament was written in the age of aries, the Ram.  The new testament dealt with the coming of the age of Pices, the Fish; and talked about the Age of Aquarius, the water bearer.

Luke 22:10 He said to them, “Just after you go into the city, a man carrying a jug of water will meet you. Follow him into the house he enters

Astrological ages are pretty interesting to read about, I don't necessarily believe that they affect humans, but you'll learn a lot about how people in history regarded themselves, or at least how people have been able to fit their history into an arbitrary structure.
